[Shinobu Oshino cosplay] The favorite donut time in the Monogatari Series

Today, the studio shoot for the Monogatari Series Shinobu Oshino cosplay photoset was completed. Shinobu's signature props, the donut and the straw hat, were both arranged this time. The pink donut covered with colorful sprinkles in my hand is both a prop and a snack after the photo shoot. In fact, before the shooting started, I had already finished the styling: the golden straight long wig paired with neat bangs and long sideburns. To fit the character's traits, the makeup specially emphasized the blush, matched with amber circle lenses, hoping to present that lazy yet somewhat childish state. This outfit choice was a white slip dress with a fairly eye-catching pink bow embellished on the chest, and the skirt hem also featured a pink-and-white ruffled design, creating a lot of layering when walking. The wide-brimmed woven straw hat on my head was the key to enhancing the summer vibe, with a white ribbon tied around the brim. On my feet, I wore white flat sandals, which also had pink bows on the upper, echoing the decorations on the dress.

The shooting location was chosen as Kasumi Studio, with a clean light grayish-blue background. This cool-toned background happened to set off the brightness of the clothes and the wig. The photographer, Jiujiuu Yue, is really good at capturing dynamic moments. In the first picture, I sat on a white circular platform with my legs crossed and extended outward. This sitting posture looks very relaxed, but actually, to maintain balance while holding the donut steady, the core muscles had to be secretly engaged the whole time. The second picture captures the state of sitting cross-legged and eating the donut. Don't look down on this seemingly ordinary action; in order to capture the moment with slightly parted lips and a natural gaze, we shot it repeatedly and had to be especially careful not to smudge the lip makeup. A few sprinkles from the donut even fell onto my legs during the movements, and I had to carefully clean them up between shots to avoid staining the skirt.

Regarding the interpretation of the character, the post caption "As long as donuts exist for a day, I will not destroy the world" actually summarizes Shinobu's unique charm very well. She appears to be a young girl on the outside, but actually carries a long history and immense power. Therefore, during the shoot, I didn't deliberately try to act cute, but instead tried to convey a lazy feeling that as long as there are sweets to eat, everything else doesn't matter. When eating the donut, the gaze needed to reveal focus and satisfaction, as if the most important thing in the whole universe at that moment was to eat the donut in front of her. Since it was a studio shoot, the lighting was set up very clearly. Although the wig was very long and needed to be adjusted every time I sat down to prevent sitting on it, seeing the light and shadow texture of the finished photos made me feel that all these trivial adjustments were totally worth it.

Doing cosplay is actually a process of constantly moving closer to the character's inner self. When receiving this shoot, I kept thinking about how to blend that innocent yet unfathomable trait together. Therefore, in the treatment of makeup, the blush was applied heavily, while the eyeshadow chose relatively translucent colors, pursuing an overall clean and bright route. Every bow on the dress, the ribbon on the straw hat, and even the color of the sprinkles on the donut were matched with the overall tone. The biggest trouble encountered during the shoot was the donut; because it had to be held in hand for poses and placed near the mouth, the frosting showed signs of melting after a long time. Today's shoot went very smoothly overall; the indoor temperature and lighting were just right. Although climbing up and down the circular platform in sandals was a bit tiring, the final image presented is extremely vivid. I hope this set of photos can convey Shinobu's unique, everyday-life-infused 2D texture.
