Ahead of the upcoming Qingdao DC39 Anime convention, I finally finished retouching the photo sets accumulated over this period.
The shooting locations were varied, ranging from vintage interior sets to cool-toned studios. The first look was a Japanese-style ensemble featuring white twintails paired with fluffy rabbit ear headdresses and generous fur trim along the collar and bracers. To complement this classical fantasy backdrop, I specifically chose a wooden lattice sliding door, framing a pose leaning half my body out to breathe dynamic life into the composition. Warm lighting beautifully accentuated the white fur on my outfit and cheeks.
The second look was a military-inspired Uniform: a deep navy jacket detailed with gold piping and buttons, paired with white skinny pants, white high heels, and a black cane in hand. Shot inside a sleek hall with reflective flooring under cool tones, I sat on a black step ladder with legs crossed to convey crisp military discipline. This perch was slippery, requiring constant core engagement to maintain balance while holding a cool, stoic expression.
Another look featured blonde hair paired with bright royal-blue skinny trousers and a cropped white military jacket accented with blue shoulder epaulets. Carrying a rapier and leopard-print coat as props while seated on the ladder, I steadied the blade with one hand and flipped my hair with the other to elevate tension. The white Uniform and vivid blue pants popped vividly on camera, though pulling off such a snug fit demanded serious pre-shoot stretching.
Then came the Bunny girl look: light-blue twin braids paired with a white rabbit-ear headband, a white bodysuit, black shorts, and Black stockings, set against a grand piano. Perched on a round stool, I pulled gently at one rabbit ear with one hand while pointing sideways with the other. The checkered floor and black piano formed a striking contrast, while warm yellow lighting highlighted the silky weave of the Black stockings. Aiming for a playful mood, expression management felt much more relaxed compared to the previous sets.
The final look embraced an office concept: a black straight-bangs bob, white high-neck knit sweater, black pencil skirt, Black stockings, and chunky black heels. Set in an environment resembling a lab or executive suite with server cabinets and blue carpet, the photographer chose a low angle to elongate leg lines while I reviewed documents in an office chair. Sustaining this angle meant sitting upright with a straight back while keeping facial expressions natural.
The guest lineup for Qingdao DC39 is stellar, featuring creators like Ning Hao Bu Hao, Chuan Yin Hai, Fu Yang Yang, Hei Tang Mei, and Liang A Zha, guaranteeing an electrifying event. Free-pass applications are underway for October 1-3 at the Qingdao International Convention and Exhibition Center. Retouching over these past few days was exhausting, yet seeing the finished frames feels deeply fulfilling. Every costume texture and prop demands distinct emotional immersion—precisely what makes cosplay so captivating.
