For this Yanagi Tsukishiro Halloween-themed shoot from Zenless Zone Zero, extensive thought and effort were poured into the early custom tailoring and prop preparations. To faithfully recreate this ensemble blending modern techwear with traditional Japanese elements, I deliberately selected a fabric featuring subtle dark-weave patterns for the white coat. Under studio lights, it emits a faint cloud-wave sheen, which, paired with the soft light-blue gradient on the cuffs and hemline, keeps the silhouette visually dynamic. The black form-fitting inner layer was chosen as a high-neck sleeveless design—flattering body contours while creating a striking black-and-white contrast against the voluminous white outerwear. The red lines along the waist and the white crisscross cinching straps served as the finishing touch, elevating the layered dimension of the entire outfit.
The set was adorned with abundant Japanese elements: red wooden lanterns intertwining with cherry blossom branches, while the grid shadows from the shoji doors contributed wonderful depth of field. To echo the Halloween atmosphere, I retained the character's signature facial lines in the makeup, slightly deepening the outer eye corners and pairing them with red lip makeup, aiming to project an aura both enigmatic and subtly playful before the camera. For the hair styling, the pink wig was trimmed with distinct layers, delivering a bold, sharp silhouette when worn beneath the hooded coat.
For props, I prepared a folding fan and an oil-paper umbrella adorned with koi patterns. During the shoot, the folding fan saw frequent use—whether held in one hand to veil the face or spread wide with both hands to guide the gaze, it directed visual focus remarkably well. In terms of pose design, I experimented with multiple stances: while standing, I purposefully shifted my center of gravity onto one leg, working in tandem with the heels to elongate leg lines while the hemline and wide sleeves cascaded naturally for visual tension. In seated poses, I opted to cross my legs, utilizing the combination of White stockings and high heels to extend visual proportions while adjusting body angles to catch side lighting that accentuated the garment's dimensional structure.
Lighting was primarily set to warm tones; the inherent illumination from the lanterns combined with the key light brought crisp definition to facial contours. To prevent the background from appearing overly dark, the photographer made numerous adjustments in camera positions and angles, artfully arranging the umbrella and stones to enrich both foreground and background. The entire shoot unfolded seamlessly; while the wide sleeves and trailing hem slightly restricted certain movements, they provided fantastic space for dynamic motion captures. The materials of this outfit performed with exquisite delicacy on camera, with both the dense geometric patterns and the red waist accents holding up flawlessly under close-up inspection. Overall, it was a truly enjoyable Anime-style photography experience.
