[Castorice cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: The Scythe-Wielder in the Purple Illusion

Today I'm sharing the photoset of Castorice. Let's start with the costume and makeup. The purple tones of this outfit are extremely exquisite; the outer skirt and butterfly decorations at the waist are pieced together from purple fabrics of different shades. The crescent waist hanging ornament and the black-gold neckpiece are the finishing touches, with details recreated very accurately. As for the wig, a gray-toned silver-purple long straight hair was chosen, with layered trimming on the forehead bangs and blue butterfly hair accessories fixed on the side. The elf ears are custom-made resin material, with a great fit that doesn't feel burdensome even when worn for a long time.

In terms of makeup, the focus was placed on the eye makeup, using a large-area blend of pink-purple eyeshadows paired with red-toned circle lenses, striving to restore that detached yet somewhat mysterious feeling of the character. The base makeup is kept clean to highlight the colors of the eye makeup.

The prop is this huge scythe; the weight distribution of the long pole needed to be adjusted properly, otherwise, it's easy to lose balance when posing. The blade part is made of EVA material, finished with a silver-white to purple gradient coating on the surface. The hollow patterns on the edges and the embedded purplish-red gems took quite a lot of time to polish.

The shooting scene was set up with an archway background featuring Gothic rose windows, surrounded by pink-purple floral arrangements. The lighting mainly used cool blue-purple tones, plus backlighting for contours, all to try out the naked-eye 3D effect mentioned in the post title. During the shoot, by adjusting the light and shadow contrast between the foreground and background, the character looks more three-dimensional in the frame.

In terms of poses, holding the long pole with one hand while letting the other hand hang down naturally, the spreading of the skirt hem and the arc of the scythe create visual guidance. Because the skirt hem is relatively short, coupled with white lace, we deliberately looked for some low angles during shooting to showcase the overall proportions of the costume. White stockings paired with this short skirt visually make the legs look even slenderer. The entire shooting process had high demands for grasping light and shadow; the shadows of the skirt hem and the reflections of the weapon both required careful adjustment.

This naked-eye 3D style we tried this time also enhanced the contrast and clarity of the image during post-processing color grading, making the layering more distinct. Hope everyone likes this photoset with a fantasy atmosphere.
