This hair, makeup, and outfit styling took quite a while to prepare, and when the blue base light struck, the feeling clicked instantly. Aside from the signature DNA double-helix hair accessory and the black-and-blue highlights, I especially love this costume design, which blends traditional Oriental collars with modern scientific research style outfit cuts. The white off-the-shoulder capelet paired with the inner cinched-waist structure makes the silhouette look remarkably upright, while the long black and blue leather gloves add a touch of understated cool, creating a wonderful visual contrast with the white pearl necklace.
This shoot took place indoors in a building featuring continuous vaulted arches. The sense of space was exceptional, and the surrounding lines alongside cool blue ambient light harmonized perfectly with the tone of this character in my mind. The photographer @三墩蓝田人 was super insightful with framing and capturing details—instead of forcing complex props or set dressing, they let me find the character's natural state through comfortable seated poses and organic movements.
The composition of the first full-body shot is actually quite everyday yet incredibly eye-catching: sitting on a light gray sofa, leaning back slightly with legs crossed naturally. The black strappy high heels combined with tights outlined a soft body contour under the blue lighting, while a detached yet focused gaze conveyed the character's unique aura to perfection.
The next two shots showcase props: a book titled "Basic Science" and a glass flask, which nicely echo her identity as a researcher. While holding the flask, I actually wondered if adding some chemical reagent would make it look even more vivid, but considering safety protocols on site, I kept the clean, minimalist look. Though her daily routine as a researcher might be rigorous or even dry according to character lore, this shoot captured a unique blend of a researcher's characteristic calmness and restraint with Oriental aesthetic elegance.
I'm also extremely satisfied with the makeup. Pairing green contact lenses with relatively light everyday eye makeup didn't look overly dramatic on camera; instead, it offered a translucent touch that, together with the blue lighting, made the skin look beautifully clear. Small accessory details on the outfit, such as the red ruby diamond pendant at the neck and the golden pattern accents on the skirt hem, held up exceptionally well under macro lenses during actual shooting. The shooting cycle wasn't particularly long, but thanks to seamless chemistry with the photographer, output efficiency was high. We constantly adjusted lighting angles throughout the process to hit the exact balance between "cool detachment" and "intellectual aura." This sci-fi infused styling, combined with the unique architectural environment, truly produced a cinematic aesthetic.
Often we think cosplay is just about putting on a costume, but the real key to delivering great results lies in understanding the internal emotions of the character. She is not merely a researcher in character settings, but also possesses her own unique lifestyle aesthetics. Before preparing this outfit, I thought about how to present this character's daily state in front of the lens rather than just piling up props. Thus, during the shoot, I intentionally avoided overly sharp gazes, maintaining a relatively soft, calm state to completely immerse myself in that cool, detached, yet elegant atmosphere, feeling her professional and daily rhythm. I hope these pictures convey this unique aura to everyone as a form of respect and understanding for the character herself.
