There are many details worth sharing from the preparation stage of this Kochiya Sanae spring cherry blossoms photo set. The visual focus of the entire look is placed on the stand-up collar and the inlaid floral patchwork on the chest. To recreate that light texture with a touch of Japanese-style Western dress, I specially chose lace of varying densities and chiffon yarn with subtle patterns during material selection. The main white fabric needs to be crisp enough to support the three-dimensional shapes at the cuffs and chest, while also ensuring it can flutter with the wind during the shoot, so the sleeves don't turn into stiff sheets of paper when I raise my arms.

As for the props, I modified this transparent staff bit by bit myself. To create a translucent luster for the clear structure at the top, paired with cyan ribbons and a star pendant at the bottom, the entire piece echoes the blue, white, and green color scheme of the outfit. The wrapping decoration on the handle was also wound completely by hand. Although the details were time-consuming, the texture improved instantly when holding it.

The shoot was scheduled during the peak of the cherry blossom season. To capture this natural, soft-focus ambiance, the most crucial key is finding the right angle of light. No heavy fill lights were used this time; we mainly utilized the diffused natural light of daytime. This preserves the layering of the costume while making the skin tone look more translucent, ensuring the reflections on the green wig don't appear out of place. During the shoot, the wind blew the long ribbons and wide sleeves, and the few dynamic snapshots successfully broke up the dullness of static poses.

To match the character's temperament, the makeup emphasized a clean, matte base. The eyeshadow avoided heavy color blocks, using fine glitter instead to brighten around the eyes, paired with contact lenses blending light green and light blue to enhance the character's divine aura and approachability. The eyebrows were intentionally drawn softer to match the hair color with straight bangs, making the overall look appear more ethereal.

In the color grading of the entire set, we tried our best to preserve the original pink tenderness of the cherry blossoms and the azure blue of the sky without adding heavy filters, leaning more toward restoring the spring feel of the real environment. The happiest part of releasing the photos is actually restoring the character's atmosphere through the lens. Although this gear can sometimes be a bit heavy to move around in—especially that long staff and the double-layered wide sleeves—seeing the final results shot under the cover of blossoming branches makes all the initial preparation feel completely worth it.
