It took me over an hour just to barely put this outfit on, mainly because there are too many accessories, and each one needs its position adjusted. I originally wanted to try it on in advance to prepare for going to the AX anime convention tomorrow, but as soon as I put it on, I discovered various small problems.
What raises my blood pressure the most is that the four black leather belts on the sleeves were actually missed in delivery. I searched through the entire express box but couldn't find them. I contacted customer service, but they straight up said no after-sales service is provided after seven days. However, I only received this outfit yesterday; how can the time be counted like that when I found missing pieces during a try-on? Forget it, tomorrow I'll just have to find a way to fix it with something else or simply skip that part of the accessories.
Let's talk about the pattern cut; it really makes me love and hate it at the same time. The waist-cinching is done very tightly. I usually wear size M perfectly, but after this waistband is buckled, I can barely breathe, carrying a strong sense of restriction. But! The chest area is completely empty. The designer of this costume probably has an obsession with a 'devil figure'; it feels like only someone who is extremely slim yet very voluptuous can handle it perfectly. Being a bit flat like me makes it look hollowed out, appearing a bit strange. Before heading to the convention tomorrow, I have to think of a way to pad it or adjust the position of the shoulder straps, otherwise, I really can't wear it out the door.
The details on the sleeve covers also make me not know whether to laugh or cry; the hollow-out design of one of the gloves was actually made solid. It clearly should have had a bit of a breathable hollow-out texture, but the actual item turned out to be a solid piece of fabric, which really infuriates me. A detail I was highly looking forward to ended up turning over like this. There is also this bonnet (big hat) on my head; although it looks good, it is extremely unstable to wear. As long as I turn my head, it rocks back and forth, making me walk with absolute caution. I really don't know how I'm going to sustain this styling for the whole day tomorrow. The gold crescent-shaped metal piece on the hat is quite heavy, causing the entire center of gravity to be high in the first place, so a bit of wind or a slightly large range of motion will make it tilt. It seems that amidst the convention crowd tomorrow, I will have to try my best to remain dignified and motionless.
However, truth be told, the design of this outfit is not entirely without highlights. That deep cyan massive long train is indeed exceptionally beautiful; the color is highly advanced, and the layering is also excellent, maximizing the atmosphere of dragging on the ground. When doing a trial shoot standing on that white round platform, the effect of the train spreading out was particularly stunning, which has become my favorite part of this outfit. Even if I die of exhaustion at the convention tomorrow, it will probably be for the sake of this long train during this Anime convention costume fitting session.
Now about the makeup, I used to be completely clumsy with my hands, never once having successfully applied double eyelid tape or false eyelashes. This time, for this character from Ave Mujica, I specially studied tutorials online on the spot and messed around with it for a long time. Although my eyes ended up looking slightly larger and the eyelashes were stuck on, for some reason they are still a bit droopy, probably because the glue didn't dry completely or the eyelash band is too soft, so I still need to practice more. If I wake up in a bad state tomorrow morning, I might have to redo the eye makeup all over again.
The main fabric of the costume is actually very textured; it is that kind of black fabric with a slight luster that shimmers under the lights, and paired with the white ruffles, the layers are actually quite rich. It's just that the handling of these small details is too rough. There are also the black polka dot over-the-knee socks on my legs; although pretty, the material leans on the thinner side. Tomorrow, if it's windy or if I accidentally catch them on an exhibition rack at the convention, they will probably tear instantly. I'm already thinking about whether I should prepare an extra pair tomorrow.
The black bone-like pendant at the chest neckline is actually quite heavy; if the chest isn't filled out, the pendant will drag entirely downward, causing that area of the neckline to choke the neck. It feels like the designer of this costume truly lacks care for small-chested individuals.
Heading to AX tomorrow with this massive long train and rocking hat for the whole day, I hope to get through it smoothly without damaging the equipment in the crowd, and I also wish myself success in taking good photos tomorrow for this Cosplay Record.
