[Wakaba Mutsumi Cosplay] Ave Mujica's Stage Outfit is Not Only Beautiful But Highly Textured

This shoot features Wakaba Mutsumi's classic look in Ave Mujica. From receiving the costume to actually putting it on, and then stepping onto the convention floor, the entire process was more challenging than I had imagined, but the final photos are truly eye-catching.

Let's first talk about the overall visual design of this look. The main color palette is a highly classic black and red combination, but this black and red isn't ostentatious or loud; instead, it carries a sense of restraint and quiet composure. The red beret on my head is a crucial visual anchor for this Beret outfit. To align with the character's image, I specifically chose a light mint-green wig with a highly detailed hair texture. The neat straight bangs paired with the long hair on both sides required repeated adjustments after putting on the hat to prevent it from flattening the roots while ensuring the bangs wouldn't completely block my vision.

The clothing details are actually much richer than they appear from a distance. The edges of the small black cape on the upper body feature incredibly fine gold-thread embroidery. This subtle gold slightly reflects under soft light, elevating the overall sense of layering. The white bow at the collar is relatively large and made of a stiffer material that holds its shape beautifully. The dark green gemstone brooch inlaid right in the middle is the visual centerpiece of the entire ensemble; I repeatedly verified its alignment while arranging my chest decorations. The shirt features semi-sheer white lantern sleeves with a perfectly draped cuff opening, though I also had to make sure the puffiness didn't look bulky when my arms moved. The wrists feature a black cinched cuff design adorned with multiple gold buttons, creating a nice color harmony with the upper body decorations.

The lower body coordination was quite a test for my movement and posing. The inner layer consists of red shorts with two highly eye-catching rows of gold buttons on the front, while the outer black open-front overskirt carries a distinct structural feel, with a whole row of small silver dot decorations lining the hem to add a metallic luster to the draped fabric. The sheer black stockings beautifully bridge the transition between black and red in this shoot, adding a touch of lightness and length to the overall silhouette. Since the structure of this costume—especially the skirt on the lower half—is quite complex, posing during the shoot required extra attention to angles to prevent the skirt from blocking the button details on the shorts while keeping the flared silhouette looking natural.

I am incredibly grateful to photographer @鸣蝉廿四 for capturing such satisfying photos. The background of the convention hall was actually very cluttered, but the photographer's composition beautifully avoided these distractions. Through a large-aperture lens and the well-spaced overhead lights at the venue, the background was blurred into deep shadows and beautiful, round, bright white bokeh spots. This depth of field made the portrait look exceptionally three-dimensional and sharp. The lighting was very deliberate, preserving the textures of the black fabric without letting it fall into solid black, while beautifully highlighting the sheen of the hair, collar bow, and metal buttons during this convention photography session.

During the shoot, I experimented with different states. The first one is relatively restrained, with hands clasped in front of me, serving as a quiet and composed profile photo. For the second shot, I intentionally made a reaching-forward gesture with my fingers slightly open, which not only breaks up the stiffness of a static shot but also captures the feeling of a character expanding her expression along with the music on stage—this kind of dynamic snapshot definitely demands some expressive skill. The third photo is the one I feel best showcases the outfit's completeness; with one hand adjusting my collar and the other slightly lifting the outer skirt, this motion perfectly displays the combination of the red shorts and black stockings, keeping the overall visual balance highly centered.

While walking around the venue in this outfit, many fellow fans actively approached me to ask about it, letting me truly feel everyone's love for this styling. Looking back at these photos, although changing and doing the makeup took quite a lot of time, when the perfect play of light and shadow was captured in that exact frame, all the preparations were completely worth it in this cosplay project.
