[Ellen Joe Cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero: Cyber Combat Maid Outfit & Mechanical Shears

Putting on this combat maid outfit custom-tailored for Ellen Joe cosplay and handling those heavy mechanical weapon props, the realistic metallic texture at my fingertips instantly transported me into the Hollow world of Zenless Zone Zero. The focus of this shoot was to restore that gap-moe contrast—top-tier combat prowess concealed beneath maid attire.

First, regarding the outfit itself: the black-and-white pieced lace ruffles didn't use the soft fabrics of traditional maid dresses, opting instead for faux leather and waterproof materials with a certain stiffness and reflective quality, perfectly fitting the Cyberpunk maid undertone. The star pattern logo at the waist and the electronic screen collar around the neck are absolute highlighting touches; when lights hit the neck collar, it refracts a subtle cyan glow. To achieve this lighting effect, the studio specially arranged several cyan-blue cool lights as key sources, combined with glowing digital meter panels on the background wall and a huge \"CAUTION\" warning sign, bringing the industrial wasteland atmosphere on set to its absolute max.

Speaking of Mechanical weapon props, these mechanical shears are seriously heavy. Although made for cosplay, the prop maker used plenty of hard EVA along with metal connecting parts to present a mechanical structure similar to heavy weapon opening and closing mechanisms. Before shooting, I spent a lot of time gripping and posing with it, because holding it one-handed required not only muscle engagement but also keeping the scissor blade edge oriented cleanly, otherwise the shot during Cosplay photography would look limp, completely losing Ellen Joe's sharp combat presence.

As for hair and makeup, a lot of effort went into the wig as well. The short black hair was woven with strands of dark red and blue highlights. To match the game model's fluffy yet casually piecy hair, the stylist spent a long time tweaking it with gel and setting spray. The wearing angle of the maid headpiece was also adjusted multiple times to look neat without obscuring facial highlights, coordinating with the character's eye makeup to highlight a cool, restrained, yet battle-ready composure.

Shooting was actually quite fun; the photographer had me try bringing the fork tip of the shears close to the lens to create a tense sense of being targeted. But in practice, because the weapon was so long, it was easy to spoil the scene by revealing unrelated cables behind, requiring constant adjustments to camera position and body tilt angles. Fortunately, the on-site assistant was extremely professional, continually using a light meter to calibrate highlights and shadows, ultimately delivering this cool, sci-fi texture seen in the photos.

Many friends might think that wearing a maid dress with layered skirts is mainly for looks, but in fact, to accommodate combat poses at knee level, the lower outfit features a slit design paired with black pantyhose, which makes the legs look exceptionally slender under the spotlight while facilitating wide strides and turning motions. The photoshoot experience was very smooth; although the venue had air conditioning, walking around complex terrain in heavy boots for half a day was indeed tiring. However, seeing the final light-shadow and color contrast, I felt all the effort was completely worth it. Ellen Joe's charm lies not only in her appearance, but also in her crisp, decisive edge during combat, and the cyber-industrial style of this photo set captured that exact aura perfectly.
