[Scaramouche cosplay] Genshin Impact Wanderer's Birthday Commemoration: A Moment Frozen in the Forest and on the Bridge

Since Cabbage loves following me around so much, I simply let it be in the pictures. Of course, that phrase 'Oh well, let's just leave it at that' was purely my daily chatter to it, but having it by my side actually brought a bit more reassurance during the shoot. It is indeed a bit regrettable that I couldn't hit the exact midnight mark, but midnight is just a number; what truly matters is the feeling of wanting to completely document this sentiment.

Looking back at the process of this shoot, there are actually many moments worth recording. I spent a lot of time and effort preparing this outfit, especially the hat on top. As a visual focal point, it carries substantial weight both visually and physically. During outdoor shooting, especially when navigating through the forest, I had to constantly mind the tree branches and its balance. The overall costume design features long sleeves and a short skirt in a blue, white, and black color scheme. While dressing, I paid special attention to the fit of the arm sleeves and the fastening of the belt, so that when making turns or holding the brim of the hat, the clothing folds could present natural and crisp lines. The white long stockings and strapped geta on the legs look great on the figure, but they also demand a certain sense of balance—standing on the red bridge required extra caution not to slip.

Actually, in the forest photo set, I tried to capture a sense of silent integration with the surrounding environment. In the autumn and winter woods, withered branches and fallen leaves turned out to be the best backdrops; lacking overly noisy colors, they nicely set off the character's aloof coolness. The golden quill and notebook felt like a temporary post encountered by chance in the woods, recording the whispers in the wind. If you look closely at that flat-lying photo, the scattered props and peacefully closed eyes precisely express that complete relaxation and unhurried ease after exhaustion.

Outdoor Cosplay photography often requires making friends with unexpected elements. Take that little white dove, for instance—it originally just happened to perch on the bridge by chance, but unexpectedly cooperated by resting on my palm for a moment. Although when it was captured in front of the lens, I was in a tense, micro-adjusted posture for fear of disturbing it. Then there are the chibi plush dolls I used for interaction; their presence added a touch of childlike fun and warmth to the frame, breaking the potentially overly cold distance of the character.

Regarding the birthday letter, even though I couldn't click on it right at the first moment, the feeling of being remembered still touched me. As someone who has long dedicated energy to restoring the character's image, a birthday seems not only a commemoration of the Wanderer's birth, but also a time for me, as someone who loves this character, to establish a wondrous 'synchronous resonance' with the character at this very moment. Shooting this set of photos is a form of feedback for my love over the past year, and also a small assignment handed in for this passion since entering the fandom.

Completing this outdoor shoot and post-processing wasn't particularly easy; it went through photo retouching, revisions, and perfectionist 'rework'. However, looking at the natural light and shadow refracted by the blue coat in the final images, along with the ingenious accessory details, my heart is filled with more satisfaction. As for the check-in spots mentioned in the title, they have all become indispensable jigsaw pieces in the memory of this shoot. With the photos taken and shared, this birthday illustration and commemoration has successfully drawn a full stop.
