[Sandrone Cosplay] Mechanical Rites of Genshin Impact's Marionette: Convention Photos Share

Fresh off getting the convention photos from the Shenyang Northern Border Comic Convention, here is my Genshin Impact Sandrone Cosplay experience log while the excitement is still fresh.

First, regarding styling prep: Sandrone's costume features a classic steampunk maid silhouette combined with mechanical elements. The white ruffled headband paired with pale blonde long hair instantly establishes the character's key visual identity. The main dress is a white strapless bodice trimmed in red and gold, layered with detachable navy blue drop-shoulder long sleeves—a design that requires serious effort for silhouette shaping. To mirror her elegant yet haughty aura, I purposely darkened the eyeshadow to emphasize facial dimension, keeping my expression distant and discerning. White tights and navy blue high-heeled Mary Janes on the lower half elongated the leg lines while adding vintage refinement to the overall Cosplay photography look.

Of course, the biggest challenge and highlight were the props. Behind me stood a massive mechanical entity, complete with a top hat adorned with gear patterns and a face mask emitting a blue X-shaped glow, creating immense visual pressure while perfectly interpreting her Marionette puppet-master lore. The long sword in my hand was another centerpiece, featuring intricate bronze mechanical structures on the hilt and a high-luminance ice-blue glow along the blade. Carrying such giant mechanical hands and a heavy sword while walking and posing at a crowded venue was quite physical work, but to stay true to her in-game composure, I maintained a relaxed, commanding demeanor as if these machines obeyed my every command.

Atmosphere during the shoot was fantastic. Indoor convention lighting combined with top spotlights and post-processed smoke effects brought out a mysterious, dark industrial and mechanical aesthetic. Massive thanks to photographer 404 (huge props to boss—capturing light effects was unbelievable!), where we repeatedly adjusted angles to naturalize the blue glow of the blade and mask, finding the most visually comfortable composition.

I think Sandrone's most captivating aspect lies in her lofty arrogance contrasted against cold mechanical power. Throughout this cosplay journey, I immersed myself in this "controlling" persona, maintaining stillness and solitary pride the moment the shutter clicked despite surrounding noise. The joy of cosplay stems from blending character with self. Although heavy props and the mechanical hand's balance point restricted movement during shooting, seeing the glowing mechanical giant and cool marionette perfectly framing together in final convention photos made all effort worthwhile.

Lastly, the vibe at Shenyang Northern Border Comic Convention was amazing. Offline cons offer wonderful opportunities to connect with fellow fans. Though I spent most of the time rushing between photo spots, seeing so many outstanding cosplayers and works en route was inspiring. Every con brings surprising convention photos, and capturing Sandrone elegantly seated on the mechanical palm serves as a perfect wrap-up to this trip. I hope to try more heavy mechanical characters in the future and bring you even more exciting content!
