Putting together this Cosplay outfit for Klee took a lot of thought right from fabric selection. The red and brown color clash is visually recognizable, with signature four-leaf clover elements woven into the hat and clothes. To make the texture closer to the fairytale vibe of the original lore, I chose a light golden twin-tail wig and supported the iconic ahoge (hair antenna). For makeup, I selected pinkish eyeshadow and matching contact lenses paired with generous blush to accentuate that youthful fairness and cuteness.
Before shooting, I repeatedly fine-tuned costume details. The coat pattern needed structure to avoid looking bulky, so subtle shoulder pads were added, which paired with the short cut to optimize body proportions. The inner white skirt hem was trimmed with lace for added texture. Brown short boots paired with white slouch socks and matching gloves visually elongated the leg lines.
For props, I specifically prepared a red-covered spellbook and a cloth bag with matching patterns on the ground. Although handling large props can be exhausting, they are key to bringing the character alive. The red book and red coat contrast beautifully with the pink and white flower field in the background, balancing cool and warm tones.
During the shoot, I tried both standing and sitting poses. While standing, I preferred dynamic open movements like spreading arms or standing on one leg to display her inherent liveliness. When seated, I held the book with legs slightly bent or extended forward. Soft ambient light fell on the blonde wig, looking delightfully translucent. The yellow-and-black warning stripes along the step edge provided a great color accent, breaking the monotony of the flowers.
Regarding makeup, striking pink eyeshadow was applied with subtle blending at the eye corners to complement the golden wig tone. Wearing the red beret tilted slightly with a white feather created a vibrant close-up feel. In post-processing, I avoided heavy reshaping, focusing on color balance to unify pink tones and soften the white mesh skirt texture.
Prior to shooting, I communicated camera placement with the photographer. To make the character appear lightweight, we used a slightly low angle. For elf-like or youthful characters, low angles enhance cuteness better than eye-level shots. Placing myself in the visual center ensured costume edges weren't clipped off-screen.
For contact lenses, I chose pink-red lenses carefully matched in base curve and pupil size to maintain a translucent feel without discomfort. Warm-toned eye makeup with highlights on the inner corners and aegyo sal made the eyes sparkle crystal-clear. Skipping thick eyelashes, I went for natural curls. The coat's rich magenta hue offered a subtle vintage feel that brightened my skin, while delicate metallic thread clover embroidery shimmered subtly under lights. The plush pom-poms on the white scarf added cozy visual warmth.
The soft diffuse light on shooting day shot skin tones evenly and gave hair strands a luminous sheen. Reflective floor tiles created a bright, airy feel where slightly pulling down highlights preserved texture. The slight pinkish glow on the elf ears was a tiny detail that enriched the look. Challenging lively characters like this requires active movements; posing with open arms or hand gestures alongside short boots made me feel genuinely transformed into a smaller size.
Placing the cloth bag prop in the lower left corner anchored the composition while echoing the book pattern in hand. I prioritized center-of-gravity balance whether sitting or standing. Hair styling in cosplay is crucial yet easily overlooked; while golden wigs look vibrant, they risk looking plastic, so I combed in textured layers, giving the ahoge a natural curl and twin-tails a gentle wave rather than stiff lines. Paired with the red hat, this high-saturation look burst with energy on screen.
Creating this set was a tribute to the Genshin Impact game world, making it deeply meaningful to tangibly express my understanding of a beloved character. Location selection was deliberate: pink and white hydrangeas and lilies created a romantic wonderland, while a piano backdrop added elegance. Yellow and black step stripes served as an unexpected bonus focal point to prevent being lost in the floral sea. Polishing a good Anime cosplay set relies not only on outfit and prop accuracy but on facial expressions and body language. I hope these photos convey an image full of sunshine and vitality.
