This salmon swimsuit was actually discovered by accident while shopping for swimwear. At first glance, I was attracted by its vibrant yet tasteful orange and white stripes. Because the overall pattern looks very much like salmon fat marbling, I simply set the theme of this shoot as a salmon swimsuit swimwear outfit. To make the overall elements more unified, I paired it with a matching orange and white striped headscarf and choker, creating a strong visual echo. For the outer layer, I chose a white translucent lace cardigan. This lightweight fabric not only provides some sun protection outdoors, but also adds to the overall outfit's layering during shooting, preventing the swimwear from looking too monotonous.
Regarding makeup, considering the strong light at the beach or water park, I chose a long-lasting matte texture for the base makeup to avoid reflection. The eye makeup used earth tones to deepen the contours, paired with contact lenses to make the eyes look more vivid. To match this somewhat sweet-looking outfit, I kept my usual lip ring and nose stud, blending a little personal rebellion into the sweet style, and the effect was unexpectedly very harmonious. Both fingernails and toenails were painted with blue glitter nail polish, forming a warm-and-cool contrast with the warm orange swimsuit, making them more prominent on camera.
The shooting location was chosen as an outdoor water park, with summer-vibe green vegetation, surfboards, and signs in the background. The sunlight on that day was very abundant. To avoid forming harsh shadows on the face, I tried to choose lounge chairs under sunshades or at the edge of tree shades for shooting. In the first photo, I sat on a rattan lounge chair with my legs naturally crossed, my body leaning slightly forward, and my hands supporting in front of me. This posture showcases the upper body well, but it's important to keep the back from hunching and shoulders relaxed and lowered to look natural. The second photo changed to a semi-turned-back posture, looking back at the lens. While shooting, one side of the hair fell naturally, which not only flatters the face shape but also reveals a clear jawline. Placing hands gently on the chest and waist breaks the feeling of body stiffness, while using body language to guide the line of sight and highlight the waistline. The third photo is a sitting posture with legs extended forward; this angle showcases the proportion of the legs well, with feet naturally relaxed. Throughout the shooting process, because there were many passersby in the background, I tried to maintain coherent movements during candid shots to avoid looking rigid.
The material of the clothing is also an important factor affecting the shooting effect. The strap design of the salmon swimsuit can visually adjust proportions, and because the white cardigan has lace trims, it produces a very natural dynamic sense when brushed by a breeze or while walking. Regarding lighting, try to choose front lighting or side-front lighting, which can make the skin texture look better and make the orange and white stripes contrast more vividly. In post-processing color grading, I slightly increased the saturation and contrast of the image to make the orange look more vibrant, but be careful not to overdo it, otherwise the skin tone will look yellowish.
Outdoor shooting is actually a great test of physical strength, especially posing in a swimsuit under the sun, which requires constant attention to touch-ups and sun protection. During rest intervals, wrapping yourself in a large towel not only keeps you warm, but also prevents your skin from getting sunburned. Because the color scheme of this set of photos is very bright, when selecting the background, I tried to avoid places that were too complex or cluttered in color to keep the frame clean, so that the audience's attention would focus on the character's swimwear outfit. The overall composition tries to keep the character in the center of the position, or uses the lines of the lounge chairs for diagonal composition to increase the extension of the frame. This salmon swimsuit swimwear outfit is very suitable for summer water parks or seaside vacations, being both refreshing and recognizable.
