[Nilou cosplay] Dance of Sabzeruz in Genshin Impact — Happy Birthday!

Today is Nilou's birthday, so I chose to share this meticulously prepared cosplay work as a birthday gift. The theme of this photoshoot revolves around Nilou's iconic dance, aiming to portray the agile grace and lightness associated with the Hydro element.

I put a tremendous amount of effort into costume preparation. The fabric selection for this blue-and-white midriff dress was very deliberate—it needed both great drape and the ability to flutter softly in an outdoor breeze. The hollowed-out waist cut of the top visually elongates the silhouette, showcasing the character's graceful curves. For the sapphire pendant and beaded necklace around the neck, every bead was compared against the original art to match color and texture as closely as possible. The golden armguards on both arms required Prop reproduction through multiple test versions; we ultimately selected a hard material with a matte texture that isn't too heavy to restrict movement, while reflecting bright, striking accents under studio lights.

Styling the head was an absolute top priority. The vivid red wig was meticulously trimmed and styled to eliminate frizz, wrapping smoothly around the head shape. The iconic curved black horns atop my head feature golden gradient nodes; securing such uniquely shaped props during Cosplay photography was a major challenge. I repeatedly adjusted the tightness of the inner harness to ensure the horns stayed firmly in place even during large, sweeping movements. For makeup, ice-blue colored contact lenses were paired with deep eye makeup, striving to capture the character's lively, confident, and slightly cool demeanor.

In terms of posing, instead of traditional static standing poses, I chose dynamic, high-tension stretches. Opening both arms wide simulates dancing in water or a frozen frame at the climax of the Dance of Sabzeruz. Because sweeping movements like this can easily cause wardrobe malfunctions, I took thorough safety precautions beforehand while requesting the photographer to shoot from a low angle. This used the simple off-white sky as a clean backdrop while using perspective to make the costume layers and my body silhouette look more three-dimensional.

During the actual shoot, because the dress hem has a high slit, controlling the wind when leaning slightly with open arms became crucial. The photographer needed to keenly catch the moment wind picked up, making the skirt flutter to create an effortless flowing effect. To achieve the ideal visual, we even tried using an artificial blower.

Speaking of contact lenses and wigs, red hair with blue eyes is a classic contrasting color combo, but under natural everyday light, this high contrast tests the harmony of the makeup. I deliberately deepened the eyebrow contour to make the gaze more focused and spirited. Layering the wig was also essential—it couldn't sit like a flat helmet; it needed carefully trimmed layers to contour the face, presenting red hair that is fluffy yet structured for Anime-style fashion.

These seemingly small details are key to determining the photo success rate in actual cosplay. Instead of an overly complex environment, I chose a simple deep gray background for this set, wanting to highlight the character's silhouette and color vibrancy. The clash of red and blue, the pairing of metal armor with light chiffon, and the unique black horns overhead form a complete visual experience.

The photos feature a subtle hazy filter reminiscent of raindrops, which, combined with the gray background wall, creates a dreamy and ethereal atmosphere. Although there's an anti-theft watermark over the images, it serves as a copyright mark for our work, and I hope these small details won't diminish your viewing experience.

Behind every photo set lies the hard work of a dedicated team. Although these photos were shot earlier, releasing them today on this special day adds a meaningful sense of ritual. Every shoot is a fresh opportunity to re-understand a character—not just to recreate exquisite key art, but to freeze the character's soul and vitality through the lens. On Nilou's birthday, using this powerful dance frame to celebrate makes me immensely happy. The weight of the outfit, the precision of Prop reproduction, and the interplay of light and shadow are all indispensable parts of this creation.
