During the 2026 New Year's holiday, wearing a light blue and pink outfit, I came to the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo to bring you this set of convention photos from my March 7th cosplay in Honkai: Star Rail.
To accurately restore this character, I put a lot of thought into preparing the costume and props. The outer light blue jacket has a great structured feel, with deep color piping along the edges of the collar and cuffs, and a few metal buttons, making the overall texture very clean. The inner white shirt is tied with a lake blue bow tie at the collar, paired with a dark blue pleated skirt; this classic color scheme looks exceptionally fresh under natural outdoor light. What deserves the most praise is this white plush cat-ear hat on my head, with pink patchwork on the brim and yellow star embroidery on the side, fully maximizing the playful vibe. The light pink wig was also specifically trimmed into a layered, fluffy short shaggy hairstyle. Paired with the highlighted pink bangs and transparently blue contact lenses, I feel that my eyes and expression captured the essence of the character's lively yet slightly tsundere personality.
For this convention photoshoot, I also brought along my custom-made identical March 7th plush doll, which features the same pink hair, blue eyes, and light-colored little dress. Holding it made me feel like I had truly stepped into a winter scene from the game. The outdoor wind was quite strong on the day of the shoot, but fortunately, the wig had been backcombed and fixed in advance, so it didn't get messy in the wind. The photographer was excellent at guiding poses; we recorded different angles—from the well-behaved cheek-poking pose in picture two, to the playful look of holding the plushie while glancing back in picture three, and then to the Japanese school underclassman vibe of standing on one leg in picture six. The white hard-shell shoulder bag I wore was also a finishing touch, with its metal buckle and light blue strap perfectly matching the overall look of this outfit.
The lighting on the day of the shoot was truly spectacular. As dusk approached and the sky darkened slightly, the overhead light of the outdoor plaza and the ground reflections intertwined, making the character's skin look exceptionally translucent. The audience at the convention was also incredibly enthusiastic; while walking around, I could often hear people calling out the character's name. Being able to portray a character I love in front of the public is the greatest encouragement for every cosplayer.
Doing this cosplay was also a special experience for me. Adapting to the blue contact lenses took a bit longer than expected, but seeing the complete look in the mirror after dressing up made me feel that all the prior preparations were worth it. Compared to gorgeous dresses, I actually prefer this kind of casual cosplay, highly mobile JK uniform style, which allows me to weave freely through the crowds and makes it convenient to hold the plushie and interact with friends.
The winter convention in Guangzhou, though the sky grew dark early, felt not cold at all due to the lively atmosphere in the crowd. Being able to leave these images on the first day of the Firefly ACG Expo, weaving through the exhibition with March 7th's liveliness and agility, is a very memorable thing in itself. There was no complex post-processing; we tried to preserve the translucency of the raw photos as much as possible, hoping to show everyone a moment full of energy and healing, just like in the game.
