[March 7th Cosplay] Spring Cherry Blossom Outdoor Headcanon Photoshoot

The theme of this photoshoot is spring cherry blossoms combined with a dreamy pink style and light blue palette, cosplaying a headcanon version of March 7th from Honkai: Star Rail. The advantage of choosing a headcanon design is that while retaining the character's core visual features, it allows for integrating the spring atmosphere of the location and personal aesthetic. Adjustments were made to both makeup and clothing to fit the outdoor natural light. The pink short hair paired with a matte texture effectively reduces harsh reflections under strong outdoor sunlight, making the hair color more harmonious with the tones of the cherry blossom grove.

Regarding the costume, I chose a dress that combines light blue and pure white, featured with puff sleeves and ruffle cuts to express the character's light and lively charm through the outfit's silhouette. The off-the-shoulder design keeps the neck and collarbone lines clean in front of the lens. The light-colored blue and white ensemble stands out prominently among the crisscrossing flower branches without getting overwhelmed by the ocean of flowers in the background. The white fluffy wings on the back present a light and airy texture under natural diffuse light, blending seamlessly with the color of the petals and adding depth to the overall look as a backdrop prop for half-body close-ups.

For the makeup, the base was kept sheer to preserve the skin's natural clarity. The eye makeup used an apricot base with subtle shimmer, paired with high-transparency blue contact lenses to emphasize the gaze, making the expression when opening eyes very focused. A milk-tea lip shade was chosen to enhance complexion without looking overly dramatic. The star and petal elements decorating the hair accessories also served to balance the colors in the frame.

In outdoor photoshoot practice, lighting conditions often directly determine the quality of the final photos. The sunlight that day was scattered by the dense canopy to form diffuse reflection, which was the ideal environment for portrait photography. However, dappled tree shadows create noticeable facial shadows, especially around the jawline and neck areas, requiring precise fill light using a silver-white dual-sided reflector to ensure even facial lighting and harmony with the background highlights. The photographer used a telephoto wide-aperture lens to soften and blur the cluttered background branches and green leaves in this cherry blossom outdoor scene, emphasizing the subject and preventing chaotic lines from distracting the visual focal point.

In terms of positioning and pose direction, Photo 1 features an open-eyed gaze directly at the camera, paired with the left hand lightly touching the chin and the right hand reaching up toward the flower branches to form a stable triangular composition. This eye contact and slightly tilted head posture better reproduce the character's lively and playful personality traits. Photo 2 shifts to a pose with eyes closed to feel the breeze, focusing on capturing the curve of the eyelashes and the subtle smile at the corners of the lips; this serene expression showcases a gentler side of the character. The placement of the arms and fingers appears natural rather than stiff, extending along the line of the collar and matching the contour of the wings to enhance visual flow.

For post-processing color grading, the overall contrast and saturation were slightly lowered to bring the pink and light blue combination closer to the soft, clear visual feel of spring. Meanwhile, care was taken not to over-smooth the skin, retaining light-and-shadow transitions and natural skin texture to avoid a cheap plastic look, striving to present a vivid and realistic sense of roleplay. This headcanon photoshoot combination with cherry blossoms was a very enjoyable attempt, achieving the expected overall level of completion.
