[Qingque cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Sharing the Happy Behind-the-Scenes Raw Footage from Skipping Work

Skipped work to shoot Qingque, and I've already got this set of behind-the-scenes raw footage. Thanks to my dear wifey @XiaoMaomao for the wonderful snapshots, and @AugustLightandShadowCosplayStudio for providing such a perfectly matching scene. Since I'm too lazy to retouch the photos, I'm just posting the raw images directly to preserve the most authentic state at the time of the shoot.

Since these are behind-the-scenes shots, the overall atmosphere becomes particularly crucial. This traditional Chinese style studio was arranged with exceptional texture. From the ink wash landscape and cloud pattern scroll in the background to the large clusters of red maple leaves on the right, as well as the wooden square lanterns and long narrow tables, everything creates a very unique ancient atmosphere. The golden ingots and bright oranges on the table, along with the red couplets with black characters hanging nearby, completely max out the festive joy. Shooting in this kind of scene means there's no need to force complex poses; simply sitting casually or looking at the lens naturally blends you into the environment.

Speaking of the outfit details of this look, they are actually quite sophisticated. The light yellow-green wig is the soul, especially the layered bangs on the forehead, combined with the strand of braided hair hanging down the side, and that highly recognizable blue and white wavy hairpin, perfectly capturing the character's lazy and casual temperament. To match this hair color, I specially chose light green colored contacts, and the orange-red tones of the eye makeup form a clever warm-and-cold contrast with the wig, giving the face more definition in front of the camera.

The costume adopts a highly layered patchwork design; the inner piece is a dark gray high-neck sleeveless top, with a golden zipper at the neckline adding a touch of crispness. The outer layer is a cyan-blue off-shoulder coat, and the ruffled cut at the shoulders beautifully flatters the neck and shoulder lines. The red braided cord on the chest combined with the golden polygonal tassel pendant becomes a bright pop of color in the entire costume, reflecting a beautiful luster under the warm lighting. The cuffs feature a relatively wide flared sleeve design, making it easy to move around while adding to the casual temperament. The lower body consists of a white pleated short skirt, paired with white over-knee socks and black thick-soled short boots, which not only visually makes the legs look slender and straight but also carries a playful and lively feel.

Regarding the shooting angles, I really love the compositions of these snapshots taken by the photographer. Especially the half-body shot used for the cover, where the character is centered, and the action of reaching out her hand conveys an interactive feeling that breaks the third wall. The hand holding that small square tile prop with a white background and dolphin pattern serves perfectly as a visual focus, which, paired with the smile on the face, brings an exceptionally relaxed and lively atmosphere to the whole photo. In the sitting pose photo, the skirt hem naturally spreads out to reveal the long socks and short boots, and with the warm yellow light hitting the white socks, the texture is delicate and natural. Meanwhile, the close-up facial image more intuitively showcases the makeup details, as well as the texture of the wig and hair accessories.

Actually, for cosplay, rather than pursuing extremely fine post-production retouching and excessive skin smoothing, it's better to capture the state and emotion of the shooting moment. This time, since I skipped work to come out, it inherently carried a relaxed sense of stealing half a day of leisure from a busy life, and this mood infected the entire shooting process. Although it's called 'raw photos straight out,' the lighting layout and the environment already provided a great atmospheric foundation. This Chinese-style scene fits perfectly with this outfit featuring traditional Chinese elements; the light and shadow hitting the face and clothes allow the original colors and textures of the costume to be displayed very naturally.

The benefit of shooting behind-the-scenes content is that there is no need to intentionally force rigid poses. You can walk around anytime or sit by the low table playing with those props, allowing many highly vivid and interesting moments to be captured. The spatial layout of the studio also has a great sense of extension; the red maple branches and the warm-light square lanterns in various positions create a warm and encompassing shooting arena. Lastly, huge thanks indeed to my dear wifey for the hard work during the shoot, and the excellent environment provided by the studio, making this cosplay photography production process relaxed, enjoyable, and filled with surprises.
