[Sparkle cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Japanese style styling attempt in an industrial style scene

This time shooting this Japanese style twintails styling, a lot of thought was put into the costume preparation stage. The red, black, and white color combination of the top plus the diamond pattern has a very strong visual impact. The sleeves are wide furisode designs; in order to let the sleeves drop or flutter naturally when posing, many angles were specially tried during preliminary test shots. The white rabbit head accessory at the waist and the red and blue ribbons are the finishing touches of the entire outfit, swaying with the body when walking or kicking, making it look much more lively. The small black bowler hat on the head plus white rabbit ears, matched with the pink long twintails, already felt like the overall effect fit the setting very well during makeup finalization. Grooming the wig actually takes quite a bit of time; the pink twintails easily look frizzy, so maintenance solution and comb were constantly used during shooting breaks to smooth the hair, and hair pads and hairnets were also stuffed inside to maintain puffiness. The red hearts and white diamond makeup on both sides of the face were decided after communicating with the photographer, wanting to add a bit of playfulness and a touch of sexiness. The base makeup chose a whitish matte texture, which can better highlight the red tone of the eye makeup.
The prop held in hand has a rather special appearance. In order to express the feeling of a combination of strength and agility, I designed several different holding postures, such as carrying it on the shoulder or holding it in front of the body with one hand, by the way adjusting the angle of the wrist to make the prop look less rigid. The metal parts of the prop have a strong reflection under the lighting, so attention must be paid to adjusting the hand position to avoid large-area overexposure. In addition, the wide design of the kimono sleeves easily blocks the face when raising the hands, so during the shooting process, continuous attention had to be paid to the distance between the arms and the body.
The shooting location was chosen next to industrial style corridors and iron racks, with yellow and black warning tape and red pillars as the background. This cold, hard metal texture formed a relatively large contrast with the Japanese style clothing on the body. To highlight the leg lines, black martin boots and leg rings with metal rings were deliberately matched. The visual effect of bare legs would be better, forming a strong contrast with the black boots. For the photo sitting on the stairs, in order to make the skirt hem and leg lines look better, several different sitting postures were tried back and forth, and the angle of the ankles also needed to be controlled, otherwise the legs would look short. For the kicking action, in order to maintain the amplitude of the flying skirt hem without wardrobe malfunctions, not only did one have to pay attention to the height of the kick, but also tighten the core, taking more than a dozen takes to capture the most satisfying one.
Photographer Tono Sakuya is very good at candid shots and has very accurate control over light and shadow. The overhead lighting and side lighting of the industrial style clearly outlined the texture of the clothes and the contours of the character. The whole process actually consumed quite a bit of physical energy because of the need to constantly adjust movements to match the drape of the clothing and the weight of the props, especially the single-leg support action where the center of gravity is not easy to find. In terms of emotional expression, to fit the character's lively yet slightly cunning traits, when looking at the lens, try to open the eyes wide and pull the chin slightly inward, making the gaze more focused. When shooting from the side, I would also deliberately let the gaze follow the lens, with the body center of gravity falling entirely on the railing and shoulders relaxed, thereby presenting a state of ease. Although the shooting process was somewhat tired, seeing the preview images on the camera made me feel that these physical efforts were all worthwhile. I hope this set of pictures allows everyone to feel a different style.
