For Day 1 of the Firefly ACG Expo, I cosplayed March 7th from Honkai: Star Rail. This particular look incorporates a modernized Chinese-style reimagining layered onto her original character design, centered primarily around a soft palette of pale pink and light primrose yellow. To authentically channel that vibrant, energetic presence, I poured immense thought into the nuances of both the outfit and the makeup.

The wig was styled from high-volume pink short fibers, featuring two playful mini hair buns sculpted atop the crown for extra whimsy. The base foundation was kept sheer and light. To complement the vivid blue contact lenses, I blended soft pink eyeshadow across the lids and deepened the outer corners, applying segmented false lashes to give the eyes a wide, animated flutter. The sky-blue contacts were the crowning touch; paired with stage-ready makeup, they retained crisp clarity and translucence even under the expo hall's chaotic lighting. For accessories, I adorned the hair with golden blooms, four-leaf clover pins, and trailing crimson ribbons. These ribbons served as the visual centerpiece—doubling during the shoot as dynamic, interactive props.

The costume consists of a gauzy, airy lotus-pink blouse accented with white lace along the cuffs and front placket, paired with a soft primrose-yellow pleated skirt. The maple leaf and floral embroidery across the skirt are exceptionally refined, matched by dimensional leaf appliqués across the bodice. The sweeping, voluminous sleeves looked stunning in motion, creating graceful layers, while the sheer fabric billowed effortlessly as I moved through the venue.

I had extensive discussions with the photographer, NightDiva, before shooting this set. To accentuate fabric textures and silhouette contours, we positioned ourselves against a metallic reflective black wall, utilizing hard rim lighting to carve out sharp outlines. The deep black backdrop contrasted dramatically with the light pastel garments, producing an eye-catching visual pop. For props, I brought a folding fan, round wire-rimmed glasses, and a sprig of cherry blossoms. Extending the fan toward the lens, teasingly shielding half my face with the red ribbon, or gazing straight through the round glasses effortlessly highlighted her spunky, mischievous personality. In the full-body portrait of Photo 8, to show off the intricate floral lace-up boots, I struck a confident pose with one hand on my hip—the dimensional floral accents on the footwear harmonized impeccably with the skirt.

Navigating the dense expo crowds with trailing ribbons and delicate floral branches required constant caution to avoid snagging on attendees' bags. However, meeting so many passionate Trailblazers whose affectionate calls of 'March 7th!' instantly recharged my energy made it wonderful. Conventions are exhausting, but seeing these gorgeous photo edits and reminiscing about chatting and shooting together makes every second worthwhile. I truly hope this set conveys all of March's sunny joy and vivacity.

To keep poses dynamic, I explored interactive postures—such as tilting my head gently, letting one hand rest naturally while the other brushed against hairpins or ribbons. Eye direction was equally crucial; glancing sideways or gazing down at handheld props unlocked a spectrum of nuanced emotions. In Photo 11 holding the cherry blossom sprig, holding the flowers directly before my eyes while glancing aside lent a gentle, quiet grace—a sweet contrast to her usual boisterous persona. Despite the simple backdrop, modulating lighting angles and focal lengths yielded rich visual depth, and catching the skirt mid-swirl added wonderful kinetic energy. Furthermore, to guard against makeup breakdown in the convention heat, I kept blotting paper and setting spray on hand, keeping my face fresh and flawless throughout.
