[Ruan Mei Cosplay] The Aloof Beauty of Honkai: Star Rail

The core direction of this shoot was \"cool aloofness\" and \"delicate refinement.\" This Ruan Mei cosplay outfit from Honkai: Star Rail is instantly recognizable, from its color scheme to its accessory design. The pink bow at the collar catches the eye, complemented by a fine emerald gem that serves as the visual focal point of the entire look. Short white gloves, ruffled wrist cuffs, and asymmetrical lace with pearls at the ankles work together to create a cohesive whole.

During prep work, I practiced in front of the mirror repeatedly to capture that slightly distant gaze true to the character. Hair styling was a key priority—the wig was trimmed with subtle layers, with side bangs hugging the face shape alongside front bangs to softly frame the face. For makeup, I set aside vibrant colors and opted for low-saturation blue-gray and earth tones to carve out eye socket shadows. Elongating the eyeliner slightly alongside light-colored contact lenses produced an ethereal, otherworldly atmosphere in front of the lens.

Set design on the shooting day was equally crucial. Wooden lattice doorframes served as the backdrop, while cascading white artificial flower vines added depth to the composition. The daybed was lined with soft white plush mats, flanked by loosely draped white tulle and cushions with traditional fretwork patterns to break the heavy gloom of dark wood. Overhead side lighting highlighted silhouette contours while beautifully rendering fabric drape and delicate lace textures.

I experimented with various postures throughout the shoot. My favorite shot captures me seated at the edge of the daybed with crossed legs, resting against a small wooden tea table. This angle beautifully showcases the dress silhouette and leg line, while ankle accessories anchor the visual weight lower in the frame. Rested lightly on the wooden table against surrounding white tulle, the pose exudes a relaxed yet elegant grace.

Creating works with Traditional style cosplay elements is certainly no easy task. Maintaining state continuity required prolonged adjustments, particularly regarding posture control—conveying nobility while keeping gestures natural and effortless. Fortunately, the final results aligned well with expectations. The costume fit and set styling blended seamlessly. Through these photos, I hope to convey the unique blend of gentleness and detachment characteristic of Ruan Mei, as an Anime girl and roleplay concept, while continuing to explore better expressions in future projects.
