My partner and I teamed up this time to organize a school uniform Duo cosplay project featuring Sunaookami Shiroko (Kuroko) and Shiroko Sunaookami from Blue Archive. To authentically capture that campus atmosphere, we dedicated a substantial amount of time to prop crafting and garment nuances. The silver-grey long straight wigs required not only layered trimming, but also needed to preserve an organic, airy volume before the camera; the animal ear headpieces atop our crowns were double-secured using hair clips and wig nets to ensure they wouldn't shift during posing.

For the wardrobe, we selected classic short-sleeved white shirts paired with light-blue neckties, matched on the lower half with navy plaid pleated skirts, white knee-high socks (Stockings), and black chunky-soled loafers. To honor the halo setting floating above the characters' heads, we handcrafted the halo props ourselves using thin wire and acrylic sheets for shaping, finished with corresponding coats of paint. To keep them stably suspended during shooting, the support structures extending from the back underwent multiple rounds of calibration, resulting in a very natural look on camera.

In terms of makeup, blue contact lenses were paired with soft reddish shading around the eye contours, which harmonized with the silver-grey palette to give facial features striking dimensional depth on screen. We opted to shoot in a furnished classroom set; the chalk drawings on the blackboard alongside the globe and easel tucked in the corner lent authentic everyday realism to the space. For lighting, we dialed up the proportion of side-backlighting, allowing afternoon light to filter through the windows across desks and white shirts to produce warm terminator lines that enriched visual layering.

Duo shoots put partner chemistry and pose synchronization to the ultimate test. In one sequence where I sat at the edge of a school desk while my partner stood beside me gently tugging my necktie, we had to lock in the exact emotional beat the moment our eyes met—balancing character rapport while keeping bodily silhouettes graceful in frame. Poses like sitting on chairs or kneeling on the floor may look effortless, but keeping our balance steady meant keeping leg muscles consistently engaged. Skirt pleats and sock smoothness (Stockings) also had to be smoothed out after each take to prevent visual clutter.

The entire shoot was far more demanding than the relaxed finished images might suggest; every seemingly casual lean, hand on the shoulder, or tie tug went through endless trial and error. From initial focusing and composition to finding our groove, we gradually unlocked the chemistry unique to these two characters before the lens. The final collection documents our dedicated preparation, and we hope the interplay of light and character connection conveys this lighthearted yet meaningful classroom slice-of-life.
