[Marisa Cosplay] Touhou Project's Chanting Duo: Today's Dose of Magic Forest and Lilies

This set of photos was shot with Alice over the weekend while the weather was nice. We chose a vintage cafe with its own glass greenhouse, covered in greenery outside. The light leaked through the window panes, fully amping up the atmosphere. The brim of the black wide-brimmed hat needed to be stiff to maintain its shape, so I specially sewed a layer of shaping mesh inside; combined with that prominent purple large bow, it barely flips even in strong winds. The skirt's black velvet material plus the star and moon patches on the hem, paired with a white lace apron, offers a great sense of layering and weight. To restore that light and flowing feeling, I selected a matte golden long curly wig and braided it into twin braids, which don't get messy easily and match the hat perfectly. The lily flowers in my hand were real blooms with a wonderful fragrance, and with the support of that vintage book, the overall color tone is exceptionally clean. My partner Alice wore a blue-and-white striped long dress and an off-the-shoulder lace top, with a red bow on her head; her silhouette reading a book by the window felt particularly narrative-driven. In the selfie photo of the two of us, her clear blue eye color contrasted perfectly with my green eye color, creating a very harmonious frame. The biggest challenge during the shoot was actually the strong contrast between indoor and outdoor light. Without a reflector, the face would easily clip into deep shadows. This time, we used a large silver reflector to fill light from the side-front, which preserved the transparency of the skin while ensuring the greenery outside wasn't overexposed. After finishing the first set of black dresses, I changed into that lightweight Lolita outfit with white lace and blue stripes, snapping a few side profiles holding the skirt hem by the window before dusk. The texture of the gauze skirt hem under natural light was incredibly delicate. The whole process took about four hours; although my neck was a bit tired from wearing the hat, it felt well worth it to restore these beloved characters with a friend and record this fairytale-like atmosphere. This time, regarding the details of costumes and props—such as the red sash at the waist, the lace edging on the skirt hem, and even the texture of the book cover—we tried our best to stay true to the original settings, treating every shutter press with respect for this passion. The photos are mostly slightly adjusted original tones, retaining the native clarity and brightness. I hope you can feel our little piece of magic from that afternoon.
