With this set of Sangonomiya Kokomi cosplay photos, I mainly want to share the costume details and shooting thoughts with everyone. We specifically chose Watatsumi Island elements as the core of the set design—abundant white flower clusters paired with a giant white seashell prop, alongside mirror-floor reflections creating water ripple imagery, perfectly complementing the character's gentle and tranquil qualities.
Regarding the costume, this blue-and-white dress features an off-the-shoulder design with lantern sleeves. The black choker around the neck paired with a blue teardrop pendant serves as the finishing touch to the entire outfit. The blue and gold gem ornament on the chest significantly enhances the overall texture, while the white gloves and white undergarments complement the skin tones, elevating the gentle, radiant aesthetic. To stay faithful to her design, the wig was chosen with a gradient transitioning from pink to blue, and the small hat accessory on top was crafted with biomimetic detailing.
The shooting environment posed quite a challenge for lighting setup. The photographer used large softboxes combined with cool blue ambient lights. This lighting technique not only ensures even exposure on the face, but also creates a clean, translucent glow across the dress hem and flower clusters. After laying down the mirror foil on the floor, the trickiest part was controlling the drape of the skirt to create staggered visual layers with its mirror reflection. To emphasize the ocean theme, we slightly shifted the color temperature toward cooler tones in post-processing while preserving the heavy fall of the fabric itself, preventing the image from feeling flat.
As for makeup, I put a lot of effort into achieving a translucent eye makeup look. I lengthened the eyeliner and added subtle shimmer, which, paired with the pink-and-blue wig, strives to showcase the character's wise yet calm inner strength. During the shoot, I chose a naturally relaxed seated posture with a lowered center of gravity, maintaining authentic eye contact with the camera to convey her inner world through the photos.
The prep work for this shoot was certainly extensive, from transporting the shell prop to arranging the white floral art, with every detail requiring constant adjustments. However, seeing the quiet purity rendered under the cool blue lights in the final photos makes all the effort worthwhile. This dedicated and complete record is my most sincere expression toward the character and work.
