This Sandrone Cosplay photoshoot, from initial preparation to final delivery, went through numerous purely handcrafted steps, with every single detail infused with my understanding of the character. Beyond faithfully recreating the character's look itself, the oversized clock, European-style picture frames, and wooden treasure chest in the entire DIY set were all crafted stroke by stroke, saw by saw, and sanded down by hand. During prop preparation, crafting the massive geared clock face alone took two full days—coloring and weathering the cut wooden boards before painstakingly gluing mechanical gears on to display a vintage mechanical aesthetic. The wooden chest was also intentionally left with rough, rustic edges, which, when illuminated under focused spotlights, crafted an intensely atmospheric visual aesthetic using these Handmade cosplay props.
Regarding the costume, this cosplay outfit features rich layering. The primary palette revolves around black, white, and gold; the neckline features a black high collar paired with a red gemstone pendant, accompanied by a deep-V cut near the collarbone and a white frilly headpiece, exuding noble grandeur alongside an untouchable aloofness. The ruffled frills on the sleeves and short white gloves not only enhanced the garment's silhouette but also made hand gestures look more elegant. To match the character in Genshin Impact, I chose a pale blonde wig trimmed with fluffy blunt bangs and face-framing side strands. The makeup specifically deepened the eye contours with subtly upturned eyeliner to capture the delicate yet sharp demeanor of a marionette.
The photoshoot took place on a temporary DIY set built in my own home. Although space was limited, the manipulation of light was pivotal. Warm side-backlighting cast against the subject and gear props projected crisp shadows, giving the imagery striking dimensionality and narrative depth. In particular, in Photo 3, I sat on an antiqued white chair, leaning back slightly in a naturally relaxed posture; this angle not only showcased the inner white ruffles of the skirt and the cinched waistline, but also highlighted the White tights cosplay details and black leather shoes with red soles and bows under the interplay of light and shadow. The red rose petals on the floor were intentionally scattered during set staging; the soft, vibrant crimson petals softened the cold rigidity of the wooden and metal props, adding a touch of dramatic tension.
We spent a long time fine-tuning on the day of the shoot because, with such complex layering, even a slight tilt when sitting could make the skirt hem or collar appear untidy. The photographer and I coordinated across numerous angles, ensuring the character was centered in the frame without blocking the large handmade clock in the background. I truly love the feeling of being surrounded by props I crafted with my own hands—it feels far more meaningful than shooting in a standard rental studio. In post-processing, we preserved the warm golden ambient tones and authentic textures without excessive skin blurring, hoping the final presentation delivers a visual experience that is both realistic and dreamlike, allowing viewers to feel the sincere dedication poured into the handmade craft behind the screen.
