My photography schedule for this Changsha Anime Convention trip is fully packed, with Moeka Anime Convention on the 18th and 19th, and the Identity V ONLY event on the 26th. Since I prepared a 3-light setup and a ladder in advance, along with an on-site storage area to help out, the rhythm of the entire shooting process was very smooth. The scene setup was arranged for the morning of the 18th and the entire day of the 19th. Although we had to queue up early, fortunately, everyone was very orderly.
During the shoot, I would adjust the posing guidance based on each character's temperament. For example, for characters with long skirts, I would shoot more spinning and lifting angles, while for mecha or leather outfit styles, I would emphasize clean standing poses and low camera angles. For every outfit look, I would take multiple photos from different angles and review them directly on screen on-site. If the lighting or expressions were not ideal, we could delete and reshoot them on the spot, saving any need for post-processing fixes. Raw photos are provided at one selection per pose, which ensures that every photo is from a carefully chosen angle without a bunch of wasted shots.
I met many interesting cosplayers over the past few days. Some had exceptionally exquisite costume accessories, and some props required on-site assembly; I would even help adjust the position of their hemlines and wigs. The most interesting part of taking convention photos is encountering various styles, from ethereal ancient styles to modern cyberpunk techwear, and from sweet maids to handsome combat gear. Each requires different light and shadow treatments. The 3-light combination used this time performed very stably in the indoor convention environment, bringing out the character's dimensionality quickly while retaining skin textures and clothing details. The raw photos return will also be controlled within three days, allowing fellow fans to get their satisfying photos as soon as possible for their cosplay photography experience.
