[Girls are praying cosplay] Cross Core - January Photoshoot Teaser

The teaser for this January photoshoot is finally ready and out. The theme of this shoot is Girls are praying from Cross Core. To restore the overall setting of this character, we specially selected an indoor venue with a strong industrial gene and wasteland tech vibe; the core apparatus was that set of massive transparent incubation pods. The entire shooting process was incredibly fun and perfectly maxed out the character's atmospheric vibe.

Let's talk about the styling design first. The wig is a fluffy short hair of silver-white leaning toward gray, and a diamond geometric mark was specially made on the forehead. Combined with the mechanical cat ears featuring pink outlines on both sides, the overall visual focus easily concentrates on the head. The clothing part is a high-contrast patchwork of white, black, and pink colors. A waist-baring design is adopted between the top and shorts, and the chest and neck are connected to a pink collar with black structural components. The lower body's white bodysuit is paired with criss-cross strap-style leg sleeves, and the material's reflectivity and tight fit are quite good. To match the character setting during the shoot, I chose not to wear shoes, which also made the overall atmosphere of a sleeping body inside a biological pod more natural and authentic.

Those few days of shooting were in January, and the weather was indeed exceptionally cold. Especially when standing barefoot on the transparent glass base and metal floor, the chill would transfer directly up. However, to restore that setting of just waking up from a hibernation pod, these tactile contrasts instead helped us enter the state much faster. The lighting on-site was very sophisticated: the inside of the incubation pod was projected with a cyan-blue cool light, while the photographer hit a highly intense warm yellow side-backlight from outside the frame. Two completely different color temperatures created an obvious boundary line on the transparent cylinder. Combined with the smoke and reflections arranged in the studio, it successfully created that sci-fi mecha laboratory atmosphere as if in the R&D or winter hibernation cultivation stage.

The shooting focus was mainly concentrated on the expression of several actions. In the few images inside the pod, the focus was mostly on stretching the body upward, with both hands raised over the head to support on the top edge of the incubation pod, or one hand lightly pressing against the glass wall. This kind of body language, as if weightless or just thawed and awakened, requires high control over the muscles' sense of exertion. It cannot look stiff, but must also maintain that upward-soaring tension. The curved surface of the transparent glass creates a certain visual refraction. To avoid those reflections obscuring the character's face, we repeatedly adjusted the shooting angles and camera positions several times.

In addition to the interior sets, the final sitting pose photo features walking out of the transparent container, holding that red and black multi-jointed mechanical claw prop in my arms. This mechanical prop was also specially custom-made according to the setting, and the restoration level of the joint connections and knuckleduster shapes is very high. When shooting outside the pod, combined with the cool white lighting, it allowed the entire character to gain a touch of vitality and playfulness amidst the mechanical feel. Although this outfit features a large amount of cutouts and high-slit designs, it doesn't get in the way when worn on the body, staying very fitting when making various large-range movements.

So this is the teaser part of the January incubation pod official photos! All the visual elements, lighting, and props cooperated quite closely this time. From the tranquility inside the incubation pod to the awakening and interaction outside the pod, inside this whole scene interweaving mechanical elements and biological breaths, the character's traits were presented as much as possible. Thanks to the photographer for the control of light and smoke, as well as the post-processing detail handling of skin tone and cool white skin.
