[Robin Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail's Cruise — Daily Life in a Halloween Amusement Park

Visiting the amusement park on Halloween night for an Amusement park photo shoot featuring Robin, the overall ambiance of the location fit this theme exceptionally well. Jack-o'-lanterns, hay bales, and the nighttime neon lights of the park gave the final shots a strong Halloween cosplay vibe. This daily trench coat version of Robin is quite different from the gorgeous stage presence we usually see in game: the beige double-breasted trench coat paired with a dark blue silk-textured scarf adds an adventurer's spirit of exploring the cosmos.

Holding that grinning jack-o'-lantern prop in my hands, it felt as though I could truly sense a Halloween party straight out of Penacony. The shooting process was actually quite a test of stamina; foot traffic in the park was heavy, requiring us to find camera angles that avoided crowds while managing background lighting. In particular, for the third photo with warm yellow backlighting in front of a giant backdrop, the light outlined the silhouette of the halo and feathers, and the split-skirt design of the trench coat looked elongated in the light and shadow—even I really liked the captured texture of that moment.

Regarding makeup and hair as an ACG Cosplayer, I specifically chose a light blue short wig styling. The fluffiness of the hair strands was great without any cheap plastic feel. For eye makeup, green contact lenses were paired with fine glitter to echo Robin's nimble demeanor. The feather hairpiece and the golden metal halo atop my head were the soul of this look; securing them took considerable effort, ensuring it wouldn't tilt while maintaining a lightweight feel.

In terms of partners, I was extremely fortunate to gather both 'Trailblazer' and 'Sunday'. Shooting two-person photos with 'Sunday', our character backstories as siblings naturally infused the shots with storytelling depth, feeling like a chance encounter during interstellar travel. Being in the frame with 'Trailblazer' was relaxed and fun with great synergy; especially the interaction in that blue tiled bathroom backdrop, though just playful goofing off, added a lot of lively everyday charm to this photo set.

There were quite a few small costume details that hit the mark for me, such as the golden halo adorned with small white flowers atop the head and the lightweight white feather hairpieces dangling beside the ears—all iconic elements of Robin. Paired with the fresh light blue wig, it makes the character instantly recognizable at first glance. Midway through the shoot, we also switched into an off-the-shoulder white dress for a few photos in front of the carousel, where warm yellow string lights highlighted the white dress with soft, delicate texture.

While night shoots yield great photos, the lighting is complex and ever-changing, testing the photographer's skill to focus and capture the best expressions in split seconds. Because it was a Halloween theme, besides us, there were many other visitors and family groups in festive costumes, filling the entire park with a dreamy yet vibrant atmosphere. Location shoots are always like this—the process might be tiring, but seeing the final photos makes everything completely worth it.

As a player of Honkai: Star Rail, being able to recreate Robin is a joyful endeavor in itself. Participating in the Creator Incentive Program this time also motivates me to bring more beloved characters into real-life settings to spark unique inspiration. Combining an amusement park's fairytale backdrop with Halloween pumpkin elements gives Robin an everyday vitality. I hope the lighthearted joy in these photos translates across the screen to everyone.

Shooting until deep into the night as crowds gradually dispersed, we realized we had circled that area several times. Wearing this trench coat was somewhat stuffy, plus holding that jack-o'-lantern prop, but reviewing the camera previews after wrapping up brought a deep sense of accomplishment. The shots standing by the haystacks combined the warm tones of the jack-o'-lantern with the beige of the trench coat in perfect harmony. Rather than a shoot, it felt like a slice of life from the character's world. Sunday's seriousness paired with Robin's gentleness sparked a unique chemistry against this Halloween backdrop. Walking back and forth in front of curtains and beside the carousel, repeating takes several times for the right angle of a glance or gesture, this striving for perfection is precisely what makes location shoots so fascinating.
