[Uta cosplay] One Piece Uta Outdoor Photoshoot Log at Firefly ACG Expo

Today, I shot a set of One Piece Uta cosplay in the outdoor area of Firefly ACG Expo. Preparing for this session took a great deal of thought and effort beforehand. Uta's outfit is packed with rich details: the tailoring of the black jacket, the white typography printed on the tie, the layered white ruffles at the cuffs, and the vibrant hot-pink turtleneck base layer underneath—every single piece required meticulous verification. The red-and-white two-tone wig was by far the most time-consuming part; trimming the bangs, styling the flow of the sideburns, and shaping the red circular loop hair ornaments. To make sure the loops stayed dimensional and didn't deform, I reinforced their interior with wire support.

I also spent lots of time getting the head accessories right. The floating white halo is actually anchored to the back of the head using an acrylic rod, while the blue-and-black headphones with a built-in microphone were specially hollowed out for weight reduction so they wouldn't cause a headache when worn for hours. The pink-and-white feathered wings on my back served as the crown jewel of the look; each feather was glued on by hand in layers. To avoid bumping into people in the convention crowds, the internal frame was engineered compactly, allowing me to move and pose on the ground without feeling cumbersome. Down below, I paired a black pleated skirt, over-the-knee stockings, and garter rings with chunky blue-and-black platform sneakers, which not only elongated my vertical proportions but also gave my feet some much-needed relief during long hours of walking and standing at the outdoor expo.

I was thrilled to finally collaborate with photographer Wenzzz, whose work I've followed for ages. They excel at guiding emotions and have a keen personal understanding of Uta as a character. Because Uta naturally possesses tremendous stage presence, I experimented with lots of dynamic poses—like hopping on one leg while pointing toward the sky, glancing back over my shoulder, and gesturing playfully with my hands. The outdoor lighting was abundant; natural sunlight filtered across the pink-and-white wings and two-tone wig, giving everything a wonderfully translucent finish. The photographer's shutter timing was spot-on, capturing my smiles and those slight, endearing haughty expressions. Even amidst the noisy convention crowds, Wenzzz patiently searched for angles, and our chemistry was fantastic. Seeing the final results, both the lighting and the vibrant colors turned out utterly satisfying. Uta has always captivated me—her passion for singing and her free-spirited nature are deeply moving, and bringing her to life in my own way gave me an immense sense of accomplishment. I will continue refining my hair, makeup, and props, looking forward to meeting everyone at more conventions down the road.
