[Dyadia cosplay] The collision of Chinese-style and sci-fi at Ningbo Xiangshan Temple

The photo output from Ningbo Xiangshan Temple is truly pleasantly surprising. For this Dyadia cosplay, we deliberately chose its traditional-charm wooden corridors and courtyards as the background. The character costume design in Honor of Kings itself carries a very strong Eastern fantasy color, and placed in this antique architectural environment, the collision sense between traditional and cyber elements is instantly maximized.

Let's talk about the details of this costume first. The cyan-green tone of the wig is very translucent under natural light, and the silver-grey mechanical-feeling hair accessories on top of the head are intertwined with red ribbons, adding a lot of futuristic feel to the overall styling. The metal-textured armor at the shoulders and the red-and-green square decorations on the chest are the core of this styling, paired with a white ruffled neckerchief, giving it a very strong sense of layering. To showcase the character's agility, the lower body features white over-the-knee stockings and red-and-white platform high-heeled sneakers; this pairing not only flatters the leg lines but also provides great support when running and posing. The fabric of the large red sleeves is lightweight and semi-transparent, and the white line patterns on them can only show their best visual effects when sunlight pierces through or when they are swung.

The sunlight on the day of the shoot was very clear, and photographer Fengyulaiji's control over light, shadow, and movement was extremely precise. To match the flowing feel of the large sleeves, we tried many large-movement actions in the corridor. For example, the single-leg jumping posture in picture 1 required continuous jumps to capture the maximum expanded area of the sleeves in the air while maintaining expression management. For the sitting posture in picture 4, I chose to sit on a wooden stool with crossed legs, which not only nicely showcases the details of the white stockings and shoes, but also allows the red garment hem to hang down naturally, adding a sense of extension of motion within stillness to the frame. Those profile shots sitting on the railing utilized the architectural lines themselves to guide the vision, focusing the center of gravity on the upper body's clothing details and facial makeup.

The setting of Ningbo Xiangshan Temple is extremely suitable for such characters carrying Chinese-style elements. The wooden structures, grey tile roofs, and distant green mountains here carry a solemn yet peaceful atmosphere by default. Although the character's setting carries a certain fantastical color, the spatial sense of the building itself provides an exceptional stage. During the shoot, we deliberately avoided the strongest overhead light at noon, choosing the boundary between the corridor's shadows and sunlight, using the framework composition of the wooden pillars to blend the character into the environment. The makeup for this shoot also deepened the eye makeup part, matching the cyan-green wig to look more vibrant in front of the lens.

Overall, the shooting experience for this cosplay was extremely smooth. The venue provided rich material, the costume's texture was well restored in the real setting, and the photographer's candid captures recorded many agile moments. This attempt of bringing a 2D character into real ancient architecture is a very concrete visual expression for role-playing.
