This photoshoot features Ram, a character from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. The overall styling highlights a pink-and-white color palette, creating a vivid contrast against the outdoor greenery. The weather on the day of the shoot was great; natural light illuminated the pink wig and fluffy tail with clear translucency. The costume is rich in detail, and the multi-layered lace ruffles demand good posture, though fortunately the high-waisted cut nicely elongates body proportions. For a Maid outfit, the real challenge lies in the weight and layering of the skirt, combined with anchoring the tail, requiring constant posture awareness while walking outdoors.
To match this soft and adorable aesthetic, I discussed many posing nuances with photographer Danta. The first photo is a half-body close-up focusing on eye contact and costume details, with hands gently clasped over the chest to look demure. The second photo adopts a rear three-quarter view glancing back over the shoulder, perfectly flattering the leg lines—the translucency of the white Stockings in the sunlight turned out ideal, while capturing the layered textures of the tail and skirt hem. The third photo is a seated pose; the key here is how the skirt spreads out and the eye contact while turning back, effectively preventing seated poses from looking static or dull.
In post-processing, we preserved the warm outdoor sunlight tones while primarily tuning skin radiance to help the subject pop against the background. To keep the pink wig from frizzing or sticking out awkwardly, thinning and setting it in pre-production took considerable time. This Ram cosplay costume holds numerous captivating details along the chest lace, cuff lacing, and side metallic buttons with chains, which couldn't be overlooked during prep. Wearing white Stockings outdoors requires caution against snags, sticking to even terrain whenever possible. Side-leaning or turning-back poses help prevent wind from disheveling the hair while highlighting the light, breathable fabric of the costume. The entire photoshoot was delightful; through the lens, we captured that signature blend of tsundere pride and cuteness. Thorough costume and prop preparation is essential to faithfully recreating a character, and the shooting process itself is a rewarding journey of continuous learning and refinement.
