The styling of the character Dyadia has always been highly recognizable in Honor of Kings, and this time I finally shot a full photo set of this complete outfit from her original skin for this Dyadia cosplay project. To match the character's spirit, the makeup specially emphasizes the crimson blending of the eye makeup, paired with long teal hair to form a strong contrast between warm and cool tones visually. The wig was also intentionally crafted with distinct layers and a natural hair-flow feel, allowing it to present a flowing and stretched state when a gentle breeze passes by, completely avoiding a rigid look.
The costume details are actually quite sophisticated. The outer orange-red large-sleeve robe's fabric features a subtle embossed pattern, and the golden lines and geometric textures on it have an excellent refraction effect under specific lighting. The black inner clothing and the irregular patchwork structure on the shoulders enhance the layering and three-dimensional feel of the entire look. The white feather-like decoration at the neckline, along with those small metal-textured accessories, serve as key details in restoring the character's design.
A lot of effort also went into the scene construction during the shoot. Red silk ribbons, artificial cherry blossoms with intertwining branches, warm yellow Japanese-style floor lamps, and a white plush mat at the bottom were all utilized to create a beautiful, ethereal atmosphere akin to a goddess under the moon or a misty dreamscape. The two little spirit props carried alongside—a light blue little jellyfish and a pink, soft, cute spirit—might look lightweight, but fixing their positions indeed took a long time of adjustment regarding angles and weight-bearing to finally present that casual yet agile feel in the frame.
For the lighting, we experimented with a combination of backlighting and rim lighting this time, which perfectly highlights the translucency of the wig and the golden edges of the costume, while ensuring the character's face receives enough light to maintain the three-dimensional feel of the facial features. Blending the cool-toned hair color with an overall warm tone allows for a higher integration between the character and the background. Every outdoor or studio shoot demands massive physical and mental energy, but seeing those moments of interwoven light and shadow in the final photos—materializing that divine maiden from the game into reality—brings a truly genuine sense of satisfaction. It makes all the hard work in the 2D field and Traditional Chinese style cosplay completely worth it.
