This styling presented at the Tonghua Anime Convention genuinely made me experience what it means to "survive beautifully and gorgeously until the very end." As a player who has been around the cosplay community for many years, every time I encounter a beloved favorite character, I put the most dedicated attitude into the hair and makeup styling. The design of this costume itself is highly recognizable; the multi-layered ruffled short skirt with a white base and pink edges builds a very lightweight sense of depth, while that golden metallic lotus decoration piece right in the center, alongside the sapphire at the neckline, elevates the overall gorgeousness significantly. The white tights on the lower body, paired with clear-soled strappy high heels, visually make the entire silhouette appear more elongated and full of tension.
The headpiece section this time was actually very time-consuming; the large dark brown bow combined with the gradient pink fabric heavily tested the fabric's stiffness and support. The silver chain forehead accessory at the front needed to precisely fit the skin right above the brow bone to ensure it wouldn't be blocked by the bangs during shooting. The wig also underwent highly meticulous layering and curling treatments to ensure it frames the face shape perfectly. For the makeup, I focused on a clear, fair base paired with soft pink-toned eye makeup and curled eyelashes, hoping to recreate that classical and ethereal demeanor.
The props in hand are the highlight of this look; the pink petal-shaped lotus carries a rich traditional charm, while the long chiffon ribbons are the key to creating an atmospheric ambiance. In a complex indoor lighting environment like an exhibition hall, convention photos are often much more challenging than studio shoots, requiring a quick adaptation to the live lighting. However, the photographer used a very low upward angle this time, coordinating with my opening action using the ribbons to solidly capture the dynamic flow of the petals and skirt hem.
The atmosphere of the Fan Content Festival on the day of the convention was excellent; although the foot traffic was heavy and the surrounding environment was a bit noisy, the moment I stood in front of the lens, I automatically entered a focused state. Controlling these two long ribbons from being tripped over or hitting the ground while maintaining an upright body posture was actually quite a physical test. Furthermore, the lotus prop held in hand required extreme care when moving around to prevent the petals from being compressed or deformed.
However, being able to bring this gorgeous traditional look into a real-world convention setting and sharing this joy with fellow fans is the greatest fun that Anime cosplay brings to me. Although the entire process was hard work, seeing that flowing and confident state in the final shots makes it feel incredibly rewarding. Walking around the convention for a bit after finishing the shoot and hearing confirmations from nearby friends made getting up early for hair, makeup, and hauling props feel entirely worth it. This piece of work, shot with a persistent heart for the character, genuinely recorded the most shining moment in the exhibition.
