Slipping into this blue and white color-schemed gymnastics uniform and standing on the empty stadium stands, a gentle breeze swept through the tips of my hair. For this shoot, I chose the classic sportswear of Iochi Mari from Blue Archive. The blue-and-white jacket, shorts, and white T-shirt looked incredibly refreshing under the sunshine, making the overall color palette highly unified. To create an authentic state of taking a halftime break after exercising, I specially brought a bottle of water as an everyday prop, which also echoed the little detail in my social update reminding myself to stay hydrated.
The blue seats in the stadium are very eye-catching and perfectly match the tone of the outfit. Without requiring too much color grading in post-processing, the captured frames naturally come with a refreshing, cool-toned filter. I tried several relaxed sitting postures in front of the camera, such as curling my legs up to lean into the backrest, or turning sideways to look back, which better expressed the laziness and coziness within the sports venue. The animal ears and white flower decorations on top of my head, combined with the long orange hair and straight bangs, filled out the overall details of the styling so it wouldn't look plain.
During the shoot, I had high requirements for the direction of the light. Because the plastic seats of the venue have strong reflections, harsh lighting can easily make the shadows on the person too heavy. Therefore, I deliberately composed the frames in coordination with the natural light on-site, letting the light spots sprinkle evenly across the clothing fabric. The combination of white knee-high socks and thick-soled canvas shoes not only elongated the overall visual proportions but also enhanced the visual impact of the athletic style. Holding the water bottle or balancing it on my head in front of the lens was all to add a bit of dynamic fun to the static poses.
Shooting on an actual outdoor venue presented a minor difficulty: sitting on these rows of hard plastic chairs required tightening my body core slightly to maintain a beautiful posture while appearing relaxed. Fortunately, the photographer gave a lot of guidance on movements back then, such as not gripping the water bottle too tightly with my fingers, and how casting my gaze slightly downward would look more natural. Today's good weather and the venue's excellent lighting allowed me to get a clean, clear set of athletic sports field outdoor location images without too much effort.
After packing up, I took a huge gulp of water. This cosplay session completed amidst the blue stands successfully combined athletic vitality with anime elements. I really love this refreshing and sunny presentation, and I hope everyone who sees it can also feel this relaxed, good mood from the side of the playground.
