This VTuber Sameko cosplay overall adopts a blue and white color scheme combining naval style and marine elements. From receiving the costume to final makeup styling, the preliminary preparation work took almost a week. To fit the character design, I deliberately selected a golden wig with light blue gradient highlights. When grooming the wig, I used a straightener to smooth out the hair strands and fixed the curve of the bangs with hairspray, ensuring it wouldn't block vision during shooting and making the hairstyle look more three-dimensional. The plush animal ears on top of the head and the blue-and-white striped bow hair ornament were the focus of the styling; the plush material can neutralize the rigidity of the sailor suit, making the overall style lean more towards cute and playful. The red-and-white small ball hair ties tied on the sides of the twin tails also added a sense of color popping from the details.
In terms of costumes, this time I wore a sailor-collared sleeveless dress. The dark blue sailor collar at the neckline paired with white ruffles creates a very layered visual effect. The front-slit design of the top is a highlight; it breaks the dullness of traditional sailor suits, allowing the inner blue-and-white striped tube top to be exposed during static shooting, which not only showcases the costume's tailoring but also helps display the beauty of body curves. The blue tight stockings matched on the lower body have a moderate thickness, which can modify the leg shape while echoing the overall marine theme. Before shooting, I prepared a blue whale plush pillow as the main interactive prop. The scene arrangement was selected as an indoor space composed of wooden flooring and white walls. A rattan storage box and a white teddy bear with a brown bow tie were placed in the background, and a few brightly colored cartoon posters were pasted on the wall, creating a bedroom atmosphere that is everyday yet full of 2D vibes.
During shooting, the action design mainly revolved around being lively and playful. The first photo chose a kneeling posture where I raised my right arm and clenched my fist; this posture can well elongate the body lines, and paired with a slightly open mouth, it showcases the character's energetic side. In subsequent shots, I tried postures such as lying flat on a mat, supporting the ground with both hands, and leaning the body slightly forward. By utilizing changes in camera angles, costume details on the back and waist, as well as leg lines, can be displayed from different angles. Because the skirt is relatively short, it's necessary to constantly pay attention to avoiding exposure when sitting down and lying down, adjusting the range of the skirt hem to ensure every photo presents the best visual effect within a safe range. Sometimes to find the perfect angle, I had to maintain a posture for a long time, which is also no small test for core strength.
As for the makeup part, to match the golden wig and blue contact lenses, I used orange-pink eyeshadow for large-area blending and deepened the outer corners of the eyes, which can make the eyes look deeper in front of the lens. The base makeup chose a foundation with strong staying power to ensure the makeup remains clean after a long shoot. Lip makeup chose a water-gloss texture lipstick to enhance the overall girlish feel. The entire shooting process actually tests physical strength and patience a lot, especially when maintaining a kneeling posture while showing a relaxed demeanor, requiring constant adjustment of the center of gravity. During the position adjustment process, the whale plush cushion played a good buffering effect, making the knees not too uncomfortable after kneeling for a long time. For the control of actions, I tried to keep the limbs naturally bent to avoid stiffness in the joints, while conveying different emotions through changes in the gaze. Fortunately, the quality of the final photos is very satisfying, and the blue color tone overall gives people a very tranquil yet vibrant feeling.
