This Furina costume finally made it out to an event, and today I'm sharing my thoughts from the shoot. Furina plays such a pivotal role in the Genshin Impact storyline, and the line "all the world's a stage" left a profound impression on me, so this cosplay was all about channeling that theatrical flair infused with grandiosity and a touch of tsundere pride.

First, let's talk about the outfit. The upper piece is a deep navy longcoat tailored from fabric with a subtle reflective sheen. To recreate the in-game look faithfully, the gold metallic trims and the cerulean gemstone on the chest were custom-ordered from a prop maker. The cutout gold bracers along the cuffs are absolute showstoppers, though they carried noticeable weight when worn. The bottoms feature tailored black shorts, complemented by long blue-and-white striped waist sashes that billowed gracefully while walking. The black leather garter strap on the thigh and the golden teardrop pendant served as crowning touches, flattering the leg lines while injecting a crisp touch of combat readiness.

The wig features a white base transitioning into gradient blue tips, crowned by an unmistakable crescent-shaped ahoge; to keep it standing crisp and upright throughout the convention, I used plenty of styling spray and hidden wire supports. For makeup, all focus went to the eyes: vibrant cyan contact lenses paired with deep eyeshadow shading to capture Furina's heterochromatic depth and defined ocular contours from Genshin Impact.

Two distinct postures were choreographed for this session. The first frame captured a standing pose cradling the oversized top hat, which is adorned with intricate golden scrollwork. Holding it against my chest, I squared my shoulders to impart a poised, regal demeanor. The second stance placed me seated atop a throne, gripping the custom blue-and-gold sword. Seated framing was actually much trickier than standing: because the shorts are relatively brief, balancing an imposing, authoritative presence while avoiding wardrobe malfunctions and keeping the thigh garter aligned to streamline leg lines required immense care. I continually adjusted the blade's tilt and my opposite hand's gesture, ultimately settling on this angled torso with one hand poised in subtle theatrical command.

The biggest difference between Convention photos and studio shoots is the chaotic ambient lighting and crowded background. To achieve a clean result, we experimented heavily with depth of field and lighting angles, blurring out the background crowds to lock visual focus squarely onto the character and props. Wearing the entire ensemble was sweltering—especially gripping the sword with gloved hands slick with sweat—yet seeing the finished photos made every drop of effort worthwhile. The character's signature theatrical gravitas was realized as fully as my abilities allowed.

To stay true to the persona, I avoided overly exaggerated leaps or dynamic acrobatics, relying instead on nuanced gazes and deliberate hand gestures to convey emotional depth. Furina is a multifaceted character—flamboyant on the surface, yet bearing immense sorrow beneath. During shooting, I kept a subtle touch of aloof detachment in my eyes, harmonizing with the dark navy wardrobe to evoke that distinct Fontaine mood. Striding through the hall in full gear, being recognized and hearing attendees call out Furina's name was immensely rewarding. Conventions are places where passion converges, and bringing a beloved character to life through cosplay brings profound fulfillment. I hope these convention photos convey her magic to you. The intricate details of the top hat, rapier, and thigh garter remained crystal-clear in the shots, which was a top priority in post-processing. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the next convention in even better form!
