[Owari cosplay] Azur Lane Halloween Dark Gothic style Elf Throne

Ever since the official preview for Azur Lane Owari's Halloween skin was released, I had been captivated by this clash of Dark Gothic style and elf elements. From styling the wig to perfecting fabric textures, I poured a lot of thought into recreating this look, hoping to bring out this eerie, mysterious Halloween cosplay ambiance.

Starting with the overall styling, the silvery-blonde short hair paired with signature pointed ears is one of the core defining features of this look. A wig of this shade requires careful attention to fiber sheen and flow to create natural layering without appearing bulky. For makeup, rather than bold red lips, I emphasized deep, defined eye contouring paired with grey-blue contact lenses, aiming to convey an aloof, enchantingly sinister elf aura.

Speaking of Halloween, the strapping and lace-up elements of this costume are truly eye-catching. The black cutout design combined with intricate chest laces and straps not only tests the cosplayer's physical poise, but also demands careful adjustment of the direction and tension of each strap to avoid looking cluttered. The cluster of purple feathers on the shoulder is a clever touch that brightens the dark color palette. Whether the gold patterns around the waist are printed or embroidered, I made sure they remained strictly symmetrical to maintain the outfit's opulent feel.

To fit the skin's lore, I specifically chose a deep wine-red velvet throne as a centerpiece prop. The massive white skeletal horns and black bat motifs along the edges instantly maxed out the gothic and Halloween mystery. Sitting on it required fine-tuning my posture to harmonize with the throne's silhouette—projecting a languid, haughty presence without losing the subject's visual weight to the chair itself.

Regarding props, handling the black whip required some technique. The curvature when held and the angle of the wrist both influenced the final tension of the shot. The black opera gloves on my hands contrasted nicely with the white ruffled flounces at the cuffs, creating a delicate accent when holding props or posing.

This shoot also experimented with a unique post-processing effect: a picture-in-picture concept where "polaroid photos" appeared affixed across the costume. This visual collage heightened the fantastical atmosphere, breaking the fourth wall and adding narrative illusion to still photography. While the shoot focused mainly on static posing, post-compositing required precise alignment with body perspective and fabric folds to make the photos look naturally integrated onto the fabric.

A major focal point of this shoot was highlighting leg lines paired with Black thigh-high stockings. To amplify the visual tension of the costume, the skirt was cut relatively short; combined with the top edge of the Black thigh-high stockings, it visually elongated leg proportions. Paired with a seated pose dangling the legs and the cinched structure of tall boots, the lower half served as the centerpiece for delivering that seductive, alluring element in this Halloween cosplay.

The collision between dark tones and the crimson throne, combined with sharp elf makeup, truly solidified Owari's distinct Halloween vibe. Spending half a day working in the studio took noticeable stamina, but seeing the final images immortalize this dark, captivating persona made the entire shoot deeply fulfilling and enjoyable.
