This photoshoot features the official Blue Archive Shimoe Koharu cosplay set. I scheduled the session with photographer Feng Lingzi in a pure white studio. The white backdrop was primarily chosen to highlight the character's intrinsic palette; pairing the pink-and-white Maid outfit with black wings creates a striking visual contrast.
During costume preparation, the pink satin fabric and white ruffled apron formed the core of the entire look. The bow tie and heart-shaped embellishments had to be securely fastened to prevent them from shifting mid-shoot. The black wings were handcrafted, requiring a snug fit against the back so they appeared natural from the front, side, and rear angles. The pink halo overhead was made of acrylic plastic; securing it with hairpins and clear fishing line was slightly tedious, but the visual payoff was fantastic.
For props, we prepared a relatively large red prohibition sign and a silver tray. The sign was quite heavy and awkward to hold with one hand, so while capturing the first frame, I adjusted my arm's support angle to keep it steady, adopting a slightly stern expression to channel the character's strict facade. For the second shot, I put down the sign and switched to holding the silver tray with both hands, tilting my body gently to soften the overall mood significantly.
During the shoot, the studio lighting was ample; to maintain the pristine purity of the white backdrop, the photographer calibrated the lighting ratios meticulously. The session progressed much smoother than anticipated, with the photographer constantly guiding adjustments to my stance, skirt placement, and wing angles. Shifting angles directly changed the fullness and silhouette of the skirt, requiring multiple trials to find the most camera-flattering look.
Post-processing focused primarily on restoring and enhancing textures while eliminating studio floor imperfections to keep the frames crisp and clean. To match the canon design, the makeup remained soft and natural, emphasizing the eyes with red-tinted lenses to ensure a sharp, expressive gaze on camera.
This character is genuinely challenging because of her dramatic personality gap—stern on the surface, yet deeply bashful at heart. Portraying that serious tsundere demeanor alongside underlying shyness required continuous micro-adjustments to facial expressions. After several passes, I was thoroughly satisfied with the final selects.
