Today at the IDO Anime convention, I finally debuted my original AU concept for Hyacinthia—this outfit was genuinely saturated with sweetness. Since it's a personal AU design, I went with a classic pink Lolita aesthetic. The centerpiece was this striped multi-tiered gathered skirt; the cascading ruffles held substantial volume, swaying gently with every step for a stunning visual effect. To match the skirt, I picked a blouse detailed with intricate lace and ruffles, finished with an oversized pink bow across the chest and voluminous puff sleeves, giving the overall silhouette a structured, three-dimensional cut.
For the wig, I specifically chose a pink-to-green gradient in Twintails. The splash of soft teal-green at the tips was the crowning touch, breaking up the monochrome pink and capturing the vibrant visual flair of a 2D heroine. Symmetrical pink bows were pinned on either side of my head, accented with delicate pearl hair clips. To support the airy volume of the pigtails, the interior was backcombed and heat-set, keeping the Pink hair look exceptionally full. For makeup, I focused on enlarging the eyes, pairing lake-blue contact lenses with a broad sweep of pink blush across the eye contour and cheeks to evoke an innocent, sweet charm, tied together with a soft pink lip tint that resonated with the wardrobe palette.
I carried two photo setups today: one for close-up selfies and another for full-body elevator mirror shots. For the elevator shot, I slung a large transparent tote packed with pink ribbons and plush dolls, which gave the ensemble a dreamy, girlish vibe. I also accessorized with golden horn-shaped charms and a few rings to enrich the details. Because the hemline is quite voluminous, capturing mirror selfies in the elevator required angling carefully to showcase the tiered skirt layers fully.
Navigating an Anime convention in an outfit like this means constantly worrying about hoop skirts shifting or wigs getting frizzy. I kept a compact comb and safety pins in my bag, touching up the ruffles and bangs during breaks. For footwear, I opted for comfortable pink leather Mary Janes—comfort is essential when walking convention halls all day.
Many photographers stopped by for photos. When communicating poses, I focused on highlighting garment details, such as lifting the hemline for a twirl or holding sweet, demure stances. Friends kept mentioning that standing there in this outfit looked just like a frosted cupcake; indeed, the all-pink palette paired with layered lace was visually sugary-sweet. I had an absolute blast blending my favorite elements into this AU design. While a few subtle details could be refined further, I'm thoroughly pleased with the overall presentation.
