[Shenhe Cosplay] Bamboo Forest Night Breeze, a Solitary Soul Like Flowing Wind and Returning Snow

The lighting in the bamboo forest at night is actually quite cluttered, so wanting to shoot a clean, cool effect in this location heavily tested the photographer's lighting skills. This set of photos was taken at a photography booth during the convention. The wind was very strong that night, which perfectly fit the poetic sentiment of 'fluttering like drifting wind and returning snow,' adding a dynamic spirit to the entire set of images.

When cosplaying this character, my primary considerations were the structure and materials of the costume. The off-the-shoulder tailoring of this outfit is highly unique; the hollow-out midriff and black透视 mesh actually need to fit exceptionally well in reality, requiring repeated adjustments. Wearing it not only creates visual layers but also places certain demands on body posture. To restore the character's temperament, I mostly selected a backward glance, holding cards, and open-armed display for my poses, which both showcases the unique traits of the costume and simulates the tension before and after unleashing a spell through the span of my arms and streamers.

In addition to large movements, small details are also critical. The leather gloves on the hands and the prop cards held are great visual extensions in the frame. The blue hair strands and the red highlights at the tips show excellent texture under intense lighting, and paired with the beast ear headpiece on top, the overall atmosphere is fully realized. Actually, the dark backdrop of the bamboo forest at night is very forgiving; instead, the character's rim lighting becomes particularly crucial. The photographer accurately captured this split second of light and shadow, and we repeatedly tried several positions just to avoid the complex bamboo background and secure these shots where the subject stands out prominently.

For this attire, I feel its greatest charm lies in the fact that it combines crispness with fluidity. The lower body features slim-fit black trousers, but incorporates a large amount of complex totem embroidery on the sides and waist, which, together with the red cord tied at the waist, prevents the look from appearing bulky. Coupled with the extensive area of blue and white streamers on both arms, the curve of the streamers blown up by the wind when I lift my arms or turn around is beautiful, possessing strong visual tension. Every time the outdoor wind blows, it serves as an endorsement for the dynamic aesthetics of this costume, creating a natural atmosphere that is hard to simulate in a studio.

This outdoor photoshoot felt incredibly comfortable to me. Although it was a bit chilly at night, the quality of the resulting images made it feel fully worth it. Without any deliberate showing off, it was purely about standing steady in the night scenery, using my own gaze and posture to convey a cool, aloof feeling. The character's setting itself carries a unique sense of detachment, and what I hoped the lens would capture was precisely that state of standing isolated from the world yet possessing immensely powerful energy.
