This year's Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo was as crowded as ever. To avoid the complex lighting and cluttered backgrounds inside the venue during the day, I specially scheduled this Columbina Cosplay shoot outdoors after nightfall. Although a night shoot cosplay places high demands on the equipment, the resulting photos have a unique atmosphere that cannot be replicated indoors during the day. The dim environment combined with strong light perfectly highlights the character's mystery and lightness.

Let's first talk about the details of this costume. The main color palette of the clothing is white and light blue, and the fabric chosen is relatively light with a certain semi-transparent quality, which creates a flowing effect as soon as the wind blows when worn. A lot of thought went into recreating the details this time, including the lace-up neckline, the golden teardrop-shaped ornament on the chest, and the iconic crescent-shaped pendant at the waist. The tulle bows on both shoulders and the white streamers at the wrists make the overall look appear more agile, also making it convenient to strike various arm-extending poses during the shoot.

For this character styling, the wig part is a very important highlight. The black base hair paired with straight bangs features distinct magenta highlights at the hair ends, and this strong color contrast is highly eye-catching. Under the intense camera flash at night, a beautiful rim light was generated around the edges of the hair strands, creating a highly dreamlike anime girl feel. For makeup, I chose a fair base and focused on intensifying the pink blending under the eyes and on the cheeks. Paired with light-colored contact lenses, it perfectly presents the character's otherworldly expression.

Regarding the shooting states of these two photos, in the upper picture with eyes closed and hands clasped over the chest, I attempted to present a quiet, devout sense of serenity. Paired with slightly downturned eyes and brow, the dark background sets off the character's temperament to look even softer and more graceful. In the lower picture looking directly at the camera with eyes open, I raised my hand to the side of my cheek and made a light, playful gesture, which better displays the character's lively side. Compared to a static stance, the dynamic snapshot also conveys a vivid sense of interaction.

This night shoot cosplay at the convention was actually quite a test of endurance. The outdoor venue in Guangzhou at night was still somewhat muggy, causing oil and sweat while wearing layers of light tulle, but I was extremely careful throughout the shoot to keep the makeup and wig neat. To prevent the hair strands from looking rigid under the strong light, I also had to constantly adjust the state of the hair according to the wind direction. The photographer in charge had highly stable lighting control, directly using the flash as the main light source to capture this primarily white and blue costume with distinct layers in the dark night without washing out the colors.

The material of the costume has a relatively high reflectivity, especially those golden and blue textured applique patterns on the chest. If the light angle isn't caught precisely, it can easily overexpose, so we tried several angles before finalizing the camera position. In the dark night, combined with the tree shadows and distant bokeh spots, this environment inherently carries a sense of fantasy. Overall, this time we tried to record several different facets of the character—both the quiet, dignified side and the lively, playful side—making it a highly fulfilling record of this Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo.
