This set of Genshin Impact Columbina cosplay photos was shot on-site at a recent anime convention. From the pictures, you can see the spotlights overhead and other photographers setting up nearby; this kind of convention photography environment actually places high demands on lighting control. Fortunately, on-site lighting paired with a wide-aperture lens captured the light, airy, and ethereal feel I wanted to express.
In terms of styling, the outfit's color scheme is primarily blue and white, accented with light gold and silver decorations. The most immediate feeling when wearing it is sheer flowiness, especially with the outer translucent blue tulle cape. In the photos where I open my arms or walk, the light-transmitting quality of the tulle looks exceptionally dynamic. The two white feather decorations on the head have a certain rigidity in material, holding an upward curving posture nicely without drooping. The wig is black with very prominent pinkish-red and magenta highlights mainly concentrated on the bangs and hair ends; this popping color design creates a visual contrast focus for the entire look.
There are several distinct frozen-motion poses in this shoot. The seated pose in Figure 1 is my personal favorite static expression: sitting on a tall black stool with hands gently folded over my chest, eyes closed lightly, paired with highlight beams cast on-site, attempting to present a serene and slightly mysterious aura. Figures 2 and 3 are complete dynamic displays: Figure 2 looks straight ahead with both arms fully open, showing the full integrity of the outfit coordination—such as bow straps on the arms, metallic buckles on the clothing, and intricate cross-strapping on the legs with open-toe long boots featuring hollow diamond patterns. Figure 3 captured a moment as I stepped forward with a more relaxed overall posture, giving a nimble, leaping forward impression.
During post-processing, we also added special effect treatments tailored to the exhibition hall environment. Since convention venues can be quite cluttered with other photographers and equipment, we used a wide aperture to blur the background, turning overhead lights into beautiful round bokeh light spots. Meanwhile, we overlaid out-of-focus dynamic white feathers in the foreground and background to create an ethereal effect as if feathers were slowly fluttering around. The addition of these feather effects enhanced the magical feel of the photo set while accentuating the light, airy quality inherent in this outfit.
When taking convention photos in a cosplay outfit with complex accessories, a key challenge is ensuring all accessories stay in place without weird misalignments or loosening during movements. Especially those white cords cross-strapped from the instep all the way to the mid-thigh, which easily mess up while walking around on site, requiring patient adjustments to tightness beforehand so full-body shots present smooth lines. This outfit has a moderate level of exposed skin; combining white shorts with a high slit showcases leg lines nicely, and along with the thigh ring detail, I really love the cold yet playful temperament conveyed in these final shots.
Other fellow photographers on site were also awesome, finding some excellent lighting angles. The overall Cosplay photography experience for this set of convention photos was very smooth. Although the convention was a bit noisy, the photographer's guidance and patient lighting adjustments helped me get into character quickly, restoring the distant yet composed feel this character should possess. Caring deeply about details, I put a lot of thought into everything from makeup to wig trimming and outfit coordination. Seeing those moments of interwoven blue and white with fluttering feathers in the final photos made all the prior effort completely worth it.
