Today's shoot featured Kotori Kanbe from Rewrite. Wardrobe-wise, this pink dress is packed with delicate nuances: lantern sleeves offer natural fullness, cuffs and hemline incorporate white lace patchwork, while deep crimson piping and a red neck ribbon add structured depth. The skirt silhouette is remarkably voluminous; to support this flare, I layered three petticoats underneath, which kept the undulating hemline flowing smoothly while walking. The wig is a warm-toned brown featuring airy see-through bangs, styled with braided side plaits and accented by pink-purple floral hairpins, instantly bringing the character's signature look to life.
For the lower half, I styled opaque pure white stockings alongside deep brown lace-up platform ankle boots. This pairing introduced a lovely contrast: while the white stockings and dress felt soft and sweet, the boots brought grounded sturdiness, balancing out any overt saccharine feel while providing surefooted grip on wet grass without slipping.
The location was set in a park grove during a gentle drizzle—a backdrop perfectly aligned with her spirit. Majestic trees trailed dense hanging roots, and deep emerald foliage offered a vivid counterpoint to the pastel pink dress. Complementing the rainy-day theme, I brought a transparent umbrella; rain gathered into delicate droplets on the canopy, letting soft light filter through onto the fabric with subtle texture. The overcast ambient light was exceptionally gentle, requiring little complex lighting gear—a simple reflector to lift facial shadows was all it took to produce keeper shots directly.
The session required careful patience. To prevent the skirt hem from soiling, we stuck to wooden boardwalks and drier patches of grass wherever possible. The first set of shots featured standing before a rustic wooden fence holding the umbrella; the clear canopy preserved unobstructed vision while lending luminous clarity to the composition. Subsequent shots shifted beneath massive trees, where I tried crouching beside gnarly roots or sitting sideways along the lawn with legs extended. Stretching out the legs showcased every detail of the white stockings and brown boots. While the damp soil made dirtying the boot soles inevitable, it was well worth the aesthetic payoff. The photographer framed with massive trunks in the backdrop, knocking down surrounding exposure to keep all visual focus locked onto the pink dress.
For emotional control, I avoided exaggerated expressions, mostly gazing quietly into the lens or looking downward. The character's personality leans introverted, and against the rain-soaked backdrop, this tranquil demeanor harmonized with the mood far more naturally. Occasionally reaching up to brush hanging vines brought an organic touch of narrative depth. When the downpour intensified, we sheltered beneath the canopy, listening to the white noise of raindrops tapping against leaves and umbrella plastic—a moment of pure relaxation.
Wrapping up the session, despite physical exhaustion and a bit of mud on the hems, seeing the pink-and-green palette harmonize on the camera screen made the outdoor journey thoroughly worthwhile. We packed our gear and props, bringing today's shoot to a satisfying close.
