Fly out of this birdcage! This photo set was shot back in 2018 or 2019. To recreate a dark, dilapidated abandoned attic, we spent a long time building the set, covering it with cobwebs, scattered wooden frames, and jack-o'-lanterns. Wearing this black lace Lolita maid dress paired with Black stockings and an exquisite hat truly captured that authentic Gothic vibe.
During the shoot, we used a contrast between warm and cool lighting to build atmosphere: cool blue light cut through the smoke on the right, while the pumpkin lantern and candles in my hand served as warm light sources, giving the images a cinematic texture. Holding a long-handled lantern and wearing Black stockings, I posed amid piles of abandoned items. Because the environment was messy and dusty, I had to be extra careful not to snag the expensive lace trims. The photographer captured the mood brilliantly across many shots, especially the one where I sat inside a picture frame holding a pumpkin—the composition and leg lines turned out stunning.
Immense effort went into this Arknights Halloween-themed project; the weathered set combined with the smoky ambiance perfectly fit the dark Halloween theme. As another Halloween approaches, I shoot Halloween-themed projects every year—is anyone up for teaming up this year? I'd love to recreate this delicate yet eerie Gothic feel again, and maybe challenge even more complex smoke effects this year.
