Today we're bringing you a Persona 5 cosplay featuring Ren Amamiya and Futaba Sakura. To capture the lived-in, everyday rhythm of this Phantom Thief couple, we staged a photoshoot full of warmth and domestic charm inside an all-white cyclorama studio.
Let's start with the wardrobe and styling. The core soul of Ren Amamiya's look is that black blazer tailored with red buttons, layered over a white turtleneck and black-and-red plaid trousers, finished with his signature thick black-rimmed glasses. To evoke his naturally languid demeanor, I textured the wig with light tousling, giving it an effortless, slightly messy yet structured silhouette. For Futaba, the focal points are her bright orange waist-length hair and chunky black glasses, paired with an army-green parka jacket worn loosely draped over one shoulder, a white graphic tee with red splatter motifs, and over-the-knee black stockings on the bottom. We kept the foundation clean and light; since both characters wear eyeglasses, we dedicated extra care to eye makeup to prevent glare on the lenses from dulling the gaze, allowing their mutual eye contact to convey emotion smoothly through the lens.
The shooting atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed. For the first shot from a high downward angle, we aimed for casual, spontaneous interaction—Ren nudging his glasses up while Futaba tilts her head slightly, freezing an unscripted split second. The second frame features Ren lifting Futaba aloft, a pose that heavily tested core balance while both of us fought back laughter; thankfully, the final retouched cut flawlessly captured the sleek contours of Futaba's black stockings and Ren's solid arm support. The third shot is a solo close-up of Futaba, holding a small prop near her lips with eyes downcast, channeling that cool, hyper-focused posture she adopts when lost in thought.
The fourth and fifth frames are personally my favorites. Sitting cross-legged on the floor gaming together resonated so naturally with their original canonical vibe—lounging at home playing console games. Futaba's cross-legged stance highlighted her over-the-knee black stockings beautifully, with studio light sculpting gorgeous gradients across her legs. In the final frame, Futaba rests her head directly in Ren's lap while clutching a gamepad, perfectly channeling an unguarded, tender reliance. This full set balances the stylish coolness of phantom thieves with the cozy sweetness of daily life. From hair and makeup prep to posing communication, everything flowed seamlessly—we hope these photos let everyone feel the unique magic of these two characters.
