[Sakuya Izayoi cosplay] The Capable and Cute Chief Maid from Touhou Project

Sharing a set of photos from this Sakuya Izayoi cosplay shoot. The highlight of this Maid outfit lies in the fabric texture and the overall layered structure.

The main body of the dress is made of deep blue textured fabric, featuring a jacquard-like raised weave up close that prevents the dark color from feeling dull. The fabric itself is crisp and structured, combined with layered white lace trimmings, giving the whole outfit a voluminous feel. I especially like the collar area: white ruffles paired with two dark green bows and a decorative blue rhinestone embedded in the center, creating a clear visual focal point at the neckline without feeling empty.

The lower half features a multi-layered puffy skirt overlaid with a white apron, decorated with fine lace along the edges. The beauty of this skirt is that when sitting down or lifting it up, the layered depth of the hem becomes even more pronounced; however, during photography, care must be taken with angles to prevent the skirt from piling together and looking bulky.

For hairstyle, it was paired with silver-white twin braids. This hairstyle heavily tests wig quality, as slight tangles can easily look frizzy; fortunately, the wig worn this time was very smooth, and together with white lace and dark blue satin ribbons on the headpiece, the overall vintage atmosphere was very rich.

On my feet, I wore Black stockings and patent leather Mary Janes; the platform design not only elongates leg proportions but also adapts well to most ground surfaces, making walking very stable. These glossy shoes with metal buckles, when paired with the deep blue dress, perfectly counterbalance the monotony of large dark surfaces, enhancing the overall outfit's refinement.

For this photoset, I chose a pure white indoor wall as the background with a white plush rug carpeted below. This clean backdrop actually places high demands on cosplay accuracy, as every detail is exposed to the camera lens. Thankfully, the outfit's stitching and lace edges were very neat, standing up well to close-up shots. I kept the makeup quite clean, focusing on outlining the eyes and facial contours; since silver wigs can easily make skin look pale, the lip color and eyeshadow were carefully balanced to enhance complexion while matching the character's calm and composed temperament.

Regarding poses, I tried standing, sitting, and lifting the skirt during filming. When standing, I spread my arms slightly to let the skirt hem drape naturally, while sitting down with legs stretched forward showcased the combination of Black stockings and shoes nicely. In front of the camera, I captured slightly playful expressions and movements; although the traditional Chief Maid image gives off a sharp and capable vibe, the soft details of this outfit made it feel closer to a casual and cute everyday state for Casual cosplay.

Although this layered Lolita-style Maid outfit is gorgeous, taking care of it takes effort—especially since the white lace trims easily curl or gather dust, requiring careful ironing before going out. While wearing it, movements need to be somewhat restrained, but once accustomed to it, one appreciates the dignified elegance this attire brings. Every character in Touhou Project has their own distinct and unique charm; cosplaying a beloved character in one's own way and experiencing that contrast between composure and quirky cuteness is truly a rewarding experience in Casual cosplay.
