[Komeiji Satori cosplay] Touhou Project: Black-Themed Satori Fitting Notes

This fitting session focused on Komeiji Satori's black-themed Lolita dress. Because I tend to perspire easily, I made sure to stay within an air-conditioned indoor studio throughout to keep my makeup from melting. The garment's architecture was more intricate than expected—especially the hemline tiers, where deep black lace overlays a pink lining, veiled by an outer layer of pale-blue tulle to create a richly layered embrace. The crimson third-eye prop on the chest is crucial to this look; to anchor it upright securely, I tested multiple fastening methods, using safety pins and fishing line inside and outside the fabric without disrupting the overall aesthetic. The pink-and-yellow floral garland winding around my body looked substantial but was delightfully featherlight, allowing unimpeded movement. However, the garland required frequent smoothing to prevent tangled coils from spoiling the visual line. Grooming the pink wig took equal patience; its fine fibers needed a breeze-free indoor space to prevent flyaways, pairing cleanly with the black headband and tiny yellow florets to bring the character together. To elongate proportions, I paired Black stockings with pink platform bow heels, effectively stretching the leg silhouette for immediate visual impact. In terms of fit, the tailoring hugged the body nicely, and the voluminous skirt eliminated worries of awkwardness during sweeping motions. Since this was purely a preliminary test, the makeup, hair styling, and accessory placements still have room for refinement before the final formal shoot. Crafted by Lunatic Mirage Goddess, the fabric choices were exquisite, draping with great tactile presence as I moved. Posing with one leg gently lifted allowed the garland to drape organically at my side while accentuating leg lines. Komeiji Satori possesses truly distinctive visual elements, and seeing design sketches manifest through textiles and props brought immense fulfillment. Treating this test as an essential blocking rehearsal, moving across the white plush carpet in such elaborate attire required constant awareness of the hem and footing to avoid tripping. The photographer reminded me to calibrate facial poise: despite her ornate design, wearing this black gown demands a focused, cool aloofness without exaggerated expressions to preserve the dark aesthetic. The entire fitting took around two to three hours—dressing, securing the garland, and adjusting straps before taking test shots. Though less pressurized than a finalized production, this trial provided invaluable insight into tension points and fabric behavior—like how the black lace fans out on turns or how the light-blue tulle catches reflections. Wrapped in such ornate regalia, one naturally moves with measured grace, turning the fitting itself into a ceremonial experience.
