Every time I put on this costume for Xishi's Mermaid's Song skin from Honor of Kings, it brings a different feeling. Today, while clearing out my phone's storage, I decided to organize and share these backlogged inventory photos.
The design of the entire look fits the swimming dragon theme perfectly. The primary palette of off-white and lake blue looks extremely refreshing, and paired with the golden breastplate textures and hair accessory embellishments, the overall visual impression delivers that ethereal and lightweight sense of celestial aura. The wig color is silver-white leaning slightly toward a pale cyan, and the curved little horns on both sides of the forehead are highly vivid.
The collar of the upper body adopts a stiff white high-neck design, adding to the overall three-dimensional shape, while the off-the-shoulder design combined with the wide-cuffed sheer lantern sleeves introduces an elegant fluidity to the rigidity. The golden decoration on the chest is the absolute visual centerpiece; it not only brightens the entire outfit but also adds a touch of solemnity to the originally fresh color scheme. The lower half features a multi-layered tailored skirt hemline, with a high front slit design that perfectly reveals the white tights, and paired with the transparent strappy chunky-heeled sandals on my feet, it visually elongates the entire leg lines. When trying it on, I really loved that cyan sheer ribbon drape, casually resting it over my arms or letting it cascade behind me. Whenever I walked or slightly shifted my posture, the sheer fabric would flutter along, creating a wonderful dynamic effect. Although I occasionally worried that the sheer fabric might easily snag or knot, the flowing essence presented in the final shots made these minor maintenance hassles entirely worth it.
The indoor shooting environment features a highly minimalist and modern style. The black long table and black chairs create a contrast, paired with that tall bunch of purple larkspur on the table, making the color coordination look exceptionally premium. The abstract painting on the wall behind me uses large expanses of soft pink and blue-white blocks, naturally forming a marvelous echo with my outfit's color scheme. The gray wide-striped carpet laid out on the floor also inadvertently enhances the frame's lines and extension, giving the photo composition richer layers.
I tried two poses this time. In Figure 1, I sit on the chair with my legs slightly crossed, keeping my overall posture relatively relaxed, which adds a touch of elegance and composure in coordination with the natural lifting of my hand. Figure 2 opts for a standing pose, with one foot stepping slightly forward and my center of gravity subtly adjusted, fully displaying the beautiful drape of the complete outfit. The natural draping form of the skirt hem and sheer fabric when standing up is completely different from the sitting posture, making me feel that this outfit has great practical versatility and high adaptability.
Speaking of the cosplay fitting, this kind of celestial-style costume actually has high requirements for wig styling and the smoothness of the clothes. Under the camera, if white and light-colored garments aren't pressed smooth or have creases, their premium texture drops significantly. Therefore, before taking photos, I spent quite a bit of time straightening out the stitching lines and the flow of the sheer fabric on the garments, just to make the state in the photos look more natural.
While organizing this inventory, seeing the subtle reflections cast by the light hitting the white tights and the costume's sheer fabric made the overall atmosphere feel incredibly soft. Although the white sections of this outfit have certain requirements for post-processing and lighting, as long as the illumination is uniform enough, the raw shots already present a highly refreshing color palette. This fitting session for Xishi's Mermaid's Song skin is not just a simple dress-up experience, but also allowed me to appreciate the clever craftsmanship behind Chinese traditional style design.
