[Yao cosplay] Honor of Kings Cinnamoroll's Dream, a Dreamy Capture by the Early Summer Beach

The moment I stood by the Shenzhen beach wearing this Cinnamoroll's Dream outfit, the sea breeze instantly sent the skirt hem flying. When I first got this blue-and-white skin of Yao-mei, I was highly anticipating the actual results of the location shoot.

Not only because its color scheme is clean and dreamy enough, but also because of its uniquely shaped magic staff, as well as the plush-textured spheres and gradient dual horns on her head.

In terms of concrete material recreation, the magic staff itself was quite a challenge. The blue translucent material has a highly translucent texture under the sunlight, blending exceptionally well with Shenzhen's blue sky and the color of the seawater. The tailoring of the clothes utilizes a large amount of chiffon and light tulle, combined with white tights and shoes with small blue bows, making the overall visual effect incredibly light and airy, which perfectly matches the positioning of Yao as a water-based magic character.

To match this look, I also simplified the makeup, retaining the clear blue colored contacts and clean transparent lip makeup while weakening the eyeshadow colors, so that the maidenly charm and sweet atmosphere of the outfit itself could be conveyed directly.

The location for this beach photography session was the white-railed viewing platform by the Shenzhen beach, and what attracted me the most was this white staircase with a sense of depth. Under the slanting afternoon light, the staircase railings cast regular diagonal shadows on the steps; this natural collision of geometric lines and the open seascape added layers of depth to the frame.

During the actual shoot, besides the wide-angle and panoramic compositions (such as the back view in photo 3 looking forward with my back to the sea, or the scene in photo 1 where the person merges into one with the sea), the photographer also specifically captured many details of dynamics and expressions. Especially the backlit photo taken before sunset is the one I am personally most satisfied with. The sunlight pierced straight through the single-layer sheer tulle skirt, making the whole person illuminate with a translucent glow, and even the outline of the staff was dyed with a warm golden halo by the afterglow.

Although the Shenzhen beach has an excellent atmosphere, the afternoon sea breeze is indeed not to be underestimated. During the shoot, the skirt hem and streamers were often blown and tangled on the railings, and the lightweight magic staff had to be gripped tightly to withstand the wind. Such moments heavily test the speed of producing photos as well as the windproof capability of the hair and makeup. Fortunately, the overall blue-and-white color scheme is highly photogenic between the sea and sky, and the blue colored contacts form a wonderful echo with the background, providing an immersive feeling as if Yao is truly living in this seaside magic world.

Every little accessory of this costume contains great ingenuity, such as the cookie-shaped outline at the top of the staff and that small red heart, possessing a very high level of real-life accuracy. The horns on top of my head were also securely fastened; while running back and forth on the beach, there was absolutely no wobbling, and the stability of the framework was a huge help to the efficiency of the shoot.

During the shooting process, interaction and communication with the photographer became particularly important. It's not just about striking a nice pose, but more about conceptualizing the character's emotional state at this exact time and place; that sense of investment makes facial micro-expressions more natural and the limbs more relaxed.

When the light gradually dimmed, nobody rushed to pack up, taking advantage of the twilight light to shoot some partial shots and profile close-ups. Upon receiving the post-processed final prints and seeing the atmosphere revealed by the light and shadow, all the hard work felt thoroughly worth it. This blue-and-white Cinnamoroll's Dream styling goes wonderfully well with the Shenzhen beach, making it a highly textured location shoot.
