For this Zai Ji cosplay, I tackled numerous hardcore challenges across the wardrobe and prop detailing. Character designs in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT inherently carry an intense combat readiness; to authentically reproduce that commanding aura in reality, I poured immense care into everything from material selection to lighting design.

First, regarding the most arresting centerpiece: the weapons. These uniquely sculpted dual blades, radiating an eerie azure glow, serve as the soul of this photoshoot. To achieve this cold-luminescence effect in dim environments, I embedded high-brightness LED light strips along the interior edges of the blades, concealing the battery packs inside the counterweights of the hilts. The blade totems were painted in meticulous layers using golden and black acrylics, finished with a coat of matte varnish so they cast metallic specular reflections under studio strobes without ever looking cheap.

On the wardrobe front, to capture that deep-blue luster of the top, I sampled countless fabrics before settling on a material interwoven with metallic threading and a velvet-like sheen. The top features a halter-neck, midriff-baring cut; the intricate gilded armor plates and square blue gemstones adorning the bodice and gauntlets were all assembled and hand-painted piece by piece. The cutout flame pattern edging the trouser cuffs proved especially demanding; to prevent fraying and maintain rigid structure, I backed them with stiff interfacing. The luminous chains linking the arms to the blades also underwent repeated adjustments to ensure they would not warp under tension during posing.

For the wig and makeup, the silver-white wig was cut into distinct layered tiers, leaving face-framing locks on both sides. To harmonize with the cool blue-and-black styling, I opted for grayish-blue contact lenses, desaturated the eyeshadow, and retained a touch of peachy-pink on the lips to keep my complexion from appearing washed out under cold lighting.

During posing, to project a dangerous, coiled tension, I chose a kneeling stance raising the dual blades overhead. This posture tested my core stability to the limit: sustaining equilibrium was critical while controlling the muscular lines of the arms to project effortless mastery over the weapons. The blade glow cast specular reflections across my face and hair; juxtaposed against the darkened venue environment, that cold glamour and razor-sharp edge came through vividly in the final cuts.

Collaborating with @不吃鱼 (@NoFish) was remarkably seamless. The photographer possessed exceptional mastery over chiaroscuro, offering invaluable guidance on balancing the blades' azure glow with facial contours. From hand-crafting props to beholding the final retouched frames, the process was physically demanding, yet breathing life into the character's mysterious, lethal combat presence made every late night spent refining details entirely worthwhile.
