I spent an hour and a half grinding on this eye makeup, finally bringing the Arknights Shu cosplay look to a level of finish I'm genuinely satisfied with.
Honestly, my makeup skills are quite average, so I was pretty nervous before taking on this character, especially worried about failing to capture that gentle, luminous atmosphere. Fortunately, the time invested was well worth it, and I'm quite happy with the layered depth and details of the eye makeup. The theme for this Spring Feast style was centered on golden-pink tones, so the eyeshadow palette revolved entirely around pink and gold. For the base makeup, I went as matte as possible, sweeping plenty of matte highlighter across the mid-face and under the eyes to create a smoother, more refined facial canvas.
The first step for the eyeshadow was using a large blending brush to apply a matte rose pink broadly across the upper eyelid and lower eye socket. This step tests your patience, as any slight mistake easily makes the eyes look puffy, so I applied color while using a clean blending brush to soften the edges back and forth for a natural transition. Next, I dabbed a fine-shimmer peach gold onto the center of the lid and the inner corner of the lower eyelid to enhance the translucency of the whole look. The lower lid drop and aegyo-sal (undereye roll) were crucial: I used a grey-brown shade to deepen the lower lid drop contour and defined a plump aegyo-sal with a highlighter pen. The false eyelashes were customized and trimmed; the upper lashes were applied densely, while the lower lashes were layered in clusters, which not only enlarged the eyes but also gave the gaze much more depth.
The absolute standout was definitely the weighted highlight Cosplay contact lenses used this time. Designed to faithfully replicate the character, the weighted highlight point stays in a fixed position even when moving the eyes, matching Shu's eye design with incredible accuracy and instantly bringing vivid life to the gaze. I wore these Cosplay contact lenses for nearly six hours under indoor lighting and outdoor warm breezes without feeling any dryness at all. Compared to traditional cosplay lenses I used in the past, the difference is night and day—the long-wear comfort was exceptionally impressive.
For the wig, I used a yellow-and-blue two-tone style with very soft, smooth strands. In the braided sections, I added handmade mini flowers and pearl accents which, paired with elf ears and unique horn ornaments, brought rich visual volume to the styling. The outfit features a yellow halter top with white lace trim and striking pink lantern sleeves, with the brightness and saturation popping vibrantly in a spring setting. During shooting, I specifically angled the camera upward, utilizing light bouncing off white interior walls and reflective surfaces for secondary fill light to capture a luminous, airy mood.
While my makeup application precision is modest and my photography still has plenty of room for improvement, the execution of this eye makeup and the overall finish of the look felt like a true personal breakthrough.
